Laser cutter not working on Switch?

Update: making a new one worked!
Now I have a whole different problem with the modification station causing the player not to move lol
I cannot get the laser cutter to work on any door I’ve tried. First I thought it was maybe a specific wreck but I still haven’t gotten it to work on any of the other ones I’ve been to. The tool has full battery and makes a noise like it’s trying to work but no cutting animation actually shows. The progress meter thing comes up but never goes past 0%.
Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is there something I’m doing wrong? I will make a new one and see if that one somehow works but I’m curious if anyone else has experienced this or knows how to fix it. I haven’t noticed anyone else mention it but there’s always a chance I missed something.
