Works?
I remember reading somewhere that this was a variable that you can set as a client.

I had tried it and it said unknown command.
I have seen on a server where you do damage and the damage value floats up from the target (like the +1 Resource from res nodes), but is this working, or am I losing my mind here?

    no
it is a server side and was removed in 1.03

    Removed :-(

Darn, I don't see why. Not like it was hurting the gameplay. It was just a nice little handy-dandy thing.

Also, digressing a little, I liked it because it gave feedback when, as an alien, you damaged a marine. Marines need to say "ow" or have blood. something ANYTHING!

    I miss it

you could see it through walls, that was part of the issue

also it seriously removed from the mood

as for confermation of hit, yah I would like it

however there will be no blood (this was a desision made some time ago)

one way of knowing if you hit is via sound (there realy is a diff)

if u leave it on in 1.03 it makes server unstable for some reason.

I think we definitely need a visual indicator of a hit.

Alien hurt - Greenish blood splatters around.
Marine hurt - Sparks come from armor. I guess they *could* be made a little bigger...

Yeah, like Thansal said, don't even bring up the idea of marines giving off blood, as it will never happen. This is a family mod here .

And I can definitely see the reasoning behind the removing of the server variable - not only does it looks strange, but it gives off way too much information. Kinda like in a lot of CS servers, where if you hit a guy with a nade around a corner it says "First blood" and lets you know where he is.
