<div class="IPBDescription">I tried to buy a recongamer but...</div> NS will die without massive server support, and we all know that its a **obscenity** to run. Well I know it is being fixed but like most gamers I lack a T1 connection or a very nice dorm. So some friends and I collected 80 bucks a month and decided to buy a 20 person NS pub. Much to my dismay Recongamer www.recongamer.com says they can't run NS servers because of the problems. Correct me if I am wrong but I do beleive they can run any other mod. Until this problem is fixed the NS CA League isn't going far unless people can rent privates for matches. It should be a priority of the NS Team to work with server providers to resolve this issue whenever possible. Until then a 20 person cs server will have to do until we can switch over. If anyone knows of any services that can run NS servers that'd be great or if they have any inside information (as I have already paid for a CS one). Just thought I'd let anyone who was thinking of buying a server know.

Perhaps a list should be made of services that DO support renting of NS servers, the max # of players, price, and contact info. A good list should then be pinned to the "Servers and Server Operators" forum.
I have two 2.4GHz P4 Dell workstations at my disposal at the ISP where I work for the past 3+ years (multi-homed T1s). I can run NS servers with ease. As you guys already stated, however, what percent of server ops are in this position? Almost NONE. This is why you see the 'lag free' servers so full all the time, with the rest of the servers vacant or filled with complaints, and a lack of more servers in general.
In order for this mod to grow these issues need to be resolved, but it is going to require a lot of optimization skills on behalf of the devs. It'll be a lot of work, so don't expect it to come easy, or fast. It's going to take time to get everything straightened out. I'm actually pleased with things as they are now; v1.03 is very stable and a lot of the major bugs are gone. For that, I give a big high five and a cold beer to the devs.
