same thing with the GL, is that a scope on it too?

I'm a little busy skinning BadKarma's Panther Alien right now though.
I plan on buffing up most of the weapons at some point in the near future-- and the rear end of the scope is definitely coming right off-- I won't remove it entirely, but it will look more like a video-capturing gadget than a two way visual device. I have had to answer questions about it too many times . . . plus, I can see the point.
The gl is also going to change. I didn't stray far enough from the OICW concept that I initially dug, so one way or another, I'd like it to be more unique.
Had some extra polys, and the top looked plain. Plus I wanted to make a visual reference to the marine weapons being able to distinguish friend from foe (the primary purpose of the scope/laser attachment-- but I said, hey, if the marine wants to look through there as well, who am I to stop him?)
sounds cool, i like futuristic cam thing idea
BathroomMonkey, by "buff" do you mean making a few different models that would signify the evolutions researched in the Arms Lab? The graphics that indicate upgrades show different attachments and such being made. Would it be possible to use sub-models so we have an in-hand illustration of the bad-**obscenity** **obscenity** we're shooting stuff with? Like the handgun would start without the compensator on the nose, then the compensator would be added... A LAM, maybe, for looks [it'd be the kind that doesn't project a visible beam; only the red dot in the center of the reticle]... How about the researching of better weapons increases the clip size, as well as the power [since the power doesn't exactly go up much compared to how much damage the aliens can take by the time we get weapon upgrades!].
Just let me know if that's a question you've been badgered with before. I pretty much only frequent this forum [if I tried to keep up with anything more than this forum and my clan's, I'd have no time for messing with models! I don't have any to play, as it is, not that I mind; I'm still having fun], so I'm not aware of anything else. Sorry if the question gets on your nerves by now.

For the most part, I just meant that I wanted to redo some of them, making them a bit more rugged and powerful looking, and expand on the detail of the designs. We have pretty strict poly budgets for the in-game weapons, so I'd like to do a second round where I remove most, if not all unseen polys (like the stock on the hmg, etc) and use the slack gained to flesh out the visible parts of the guns.
However, I think your suggestion makes sense-- it may have actually been discussed briefly by the team, but I'm pretty sure it was put off as one of those 'v2 or later' things, since it would primarily be a cosmetic enhancement. So, something like this may very well end up in the game, at some point.
hm... what about adding a 2nd mag. to the LMG? imo that would look quite nice
That sounds great, Monkey. Looking forward to that. Considering what you've done so far, I'm sure you can do all the better.
My own tastes, though, are against tight poly-budgets. I like full guns, even if they need 3000 polies. I totally understand where the budget comes from. I'd been on a P133 with 32MB's of RAM for five years not too long ago, so I understand that not everybody's got the uber computers a few of us have.
How about high-poly packs? Make the full models available to those who want more than the low-poly default ones that have all the faces cut out? I spend so much time in HLMV and Milkshape, I like seeing all of what I'm looking at.
I'm glad it was at least not a question you'd heard a thousand times before and it's encouraging that it may be implemented later on. ^_^

Yeah it has no point but i like the look..
or you could take it off yerself and just ...oh wait....nm
LMg would ...to me....loook pretty plain without that scope
mhm... try replacing the scope with some kind of "laserpointer" or so. the model just looks to empty without the scope imo
