Planet Natural Selection Problems
Well, as some of you may have noticed our site has been up and down for the last couple of days. Heres the scoop on what happened:
The hosting company that we use has recently changed data centers and therefore all the sites have been assigned new ips.
They were supposed to email me telling me of this change and what my new ip was, but I never recieved the email. If you were wondering our new ip is: 209.251.23.38.
So basically I was still uploading things to the old ip, which still happens to be on the old server. And because they left the old server up I thought nothing was wrong.
Now, some of you may have seen an "apache test page" instead of the regular page. This happened because the hosting company bound our domain, planetns.com, to the wrong ip of the new server. Therefore they had it bound to some random machine that had nothing set up on it.
Because of that you saw the apache page. Also because of that the domain now has to re-propogate because they had to reset the ip again. So, the domain may not work for another 36 hours, depending on your ISP. Everything now seems to be situated and we hope not to have more problems like this. So now all you have to do is sit back and wait for the domain to propogate for everything to go back to normal.
In the mean time you can check Planet Natural Selection using our IP address instead of going through the domain. All you have to do is use this link:
http://209.251.23.38
note: if you are trying to go onto the forums and you told the forums to save your password, it wont work. This is because the cookie it uses to save your password is bound to the domain and not the ip address. Therefore if you want to post on the forums you have to log in everytime you visit. This is not permanent, its only until the domain propogates.
Sorry for the inconvience.
