Wow, semantical discussions, i love them :o). Second one is right, first one is wrong. By your definition of exploit aimbots for example would be exploits too, but they are not. Exploits are cheats that use ingame mechanics rather than second party programs. Exploits are when you use small glitches in a program to your advantage and so play the game in a way not meant by the designers.

That's wrong. Just because everyone can do it does not mean it's no exploit. Everyone can take advantage of the marine hitbox bug and it is an exploit anyway.
Now about r_drawviewmodel. Right now it is an halflife option and since it is not disabled by ns it is neither cheat nor exploit. Though you could argue that it seems the devs did not want you to use this option and just forgot to disable it, in which case it might become an exploit again (allthough the word exploit is generally used in conjunction with small game bugs, in which way forgetting to disable an option would be such a small game bug).
My point of view on this whole issue: Putting alien eyes in the mouth is stupid for realism reasons as well as for gameplay reasons (imagine playing deus ex with your screen going black everytime you pull the trigger) and marine muzzleflash is slightly to big. r_drawviewmodel right now is a way to fix this small glitch in the game (allthough with disabling the whole hud it harms nearly as much as it helps esp. for aliens). So once in a while when i get to much headache from this stupid teeth animation or just want to see what i am biting i type it into the console to get rid of it. I wonder if i find the time to bind it to a key before/if it gets disabled :o).

The developers of Natural Selection constructed the game with the intention that the HUD <b>not</b> be turned off. The muzzle flash, the skulk's teeth, and every other element of the HUDs are BALANCE components as well as aesthetic elements. It's like in HL or Halo when you equip the rocket launcher - the weapon is immensely powerful, but it also obscures a substantial portion of your screen real-estate, which is one of its limitations.
To that effect, expect r_drawviewmodel to be LOCKED in a future patch of NS. Even before that happens, expect servers to be locking the command with clanmod, as my clan's server has already done. And mouth, please learn some manners.

there have been people here saying it aint a exploit because its a "command" in the game...WELL... there is another exploit.....the skin hack exploit to be exact... to activate it you have to type in a "command"... does that justify using it? because its there and its a command? no it bloody doesent...so think about things before you start making fools of yourselves.
