So, Where Are We Now?

According to the Techtrope article on the mainpage (http://www.natural-selection.org/world_marine1.html), the TSA had until June 21XX to see how well the Frontiersmen could manage against the aliens. My question is, with respect to that dealine, where are we as we play NS today? Is it before/after/during this 3-month phase?
I browsed quickly through the pages of this forum, but I couldn't find the answer. I'm very new to NS and I really like the setting, so hopefully someone can fill me in.

Anyone else agree it would be pretty sweet if each level came with a little text info? (Nothing overly long, but something similar to the map description that's provided with every CS level.) In addition, perhaps each time a new map is released it would continue some kind of series; "two days after our successful siege on planet so-and-so (map ns_caged, for example), we received a new distress signal from planet so-and-so in the so-and-so rim (ns_futuremap)."

I'd say we're dead smack in the middle of that 3 month period. Maybe, if you play with a horrible team, assume it's right at the start, and if you play with people who actually work together, assume it's later? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Affixing the actual passage of time to the game universe is entirely arbitrary right now. If we do, someday, introduce a linear element to NS (progressive story somehow interacting with gameplay) you'll have some real answers.
