A system to keep your marines inline is already in the game. Its called commander mode. If you are commander and someone is not obeying you then just deny him health, ammo, and guns. Tell him why you are doing that and his **obscenity** will be in line in no time. The commander controls everything so the marines better listen to him. If they choose not to, then they choose to get nothing.

What would be incredibly useful is to have some way of labeling marines, this would be extremely useful

i hate it when marines go out to fight by themselves, its hard to command when you have someone asking for everything when the main troops needs stuff the most

I always follow orders when commander is good and plite, but sometimes commander is nice at all, trating marine like if they were dogs, giving orders in caps, being rude etc... That time I didnt obey and did encourage other marines to do the same... After 2 minutes of non building, he dropped a hmg and a ha on his CC, quit it and got killed by a fade 15 seconds later

i think most of the players are starting to learn how to command because immidiatly the place the right buildings and everything and start out right until they run into cloaked skulks and stuff

    Even after

QUOTE

telling him why you are doing that

?

I think any marine with an iota of manners or concern for others would understand why he was being punished if you explained first and politely, and change his ways, rather than hit that eject button right away.

it is something i'd like to do, to deny equipment to non-obeying marines, but i just can't easily keep track of the mental note most of the time

...ok so fades are attacking our base, and we have a phase by cargo where we can siege "don't attack that rt just guard the tf there" there is no pause at all, the guy IMMEDIATELY whips out his knife and begins stabbing... it's situations like that i don't hesitate for caps lock insults... "SPY YOU ARE RETARDED" ... but the wise commander must also be compassionate as well as iron-fisted, when someone does something good i actually told them to, i give them a nice commendation

but anyway yeah there should be a better way to tell which marine is who, than needing to hover your mouse over them

Possibly some sort of sin bin, where if a marine is ignoring your orders, you can't hear any of his requests, get use an armoury, or pick anything up such as HMGs or HA etc.

He could have an something over him that shows he has been sinbined (That only the marines see) so that the comm can keep tabs on sin binned people.

The sin bin would either have to be time based (10 mins?) or the comm would have to un-sin bin him.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

ok, that was my solution, but as with every suggestion, there are problems. so.

1/. The first thing a marine will do if binned is try to eject the comm. It is childish, but on pubs, that is what you get. So, a binned guy cannot vote the comm from the time he is binned, till 5 mins after he is unbinned. The reason for this is that if he can vote straight away he will.

2/. This would be open to abuse from a comm who has had an unrelated argument with a marine, so maybe when he sin bins a marine, a box comes up asking the other marines if they think he should stay there.

3/. The comm has a finite number of bins he can use per game/time period. This I have no idea about.

ok, thought, suggestions, flames?...no wait, not flames.

no no no, first off, the name "sinbin" is terrible! I dunno try something like red taggetdor blackballed. Second, you don't let the marines see who has been marked as a bad apple by the com! That just oozes trouble, such as ejecting and bitching and whining. It should have no effect on how the marine plays (doesn't block him from picking items up, because then he'll know he's tagged)

A hypothetical situation: I'm commanding and at the beginning of the game i announce "follow orders or i'm not giving you any equipment" 2 marines run off rambo style. one goes to an emtpty hive with just an rt there. I tell him "do not attack that rt, hide until we can get a phase" He attaks the rt. I blackball him, now an obvious red X hovers over his head to me at all times. We have tech items avalable now, so i begin dishing out the goods, being careful to drop it directly on good marines, and nowhere near marked ones. "Shotty and jet com" asks the marked marine. "No, sorry you didn't follow orders. Next time follow orders and you can have stuff" Now people will follow orders yayayayayaya!

Its even better when no one on the marine team will touch the CC, so you climb into it and they start to give you orders.

or, even better - while your trying to group marines together for an attack, build something - what ever, and they run off saying "Lets goto the Hive!"

    Wtf?

    Follow my orders fool

    eh - oh well ...

    random guy2: Idiot comm
