Mic Problems

<div class="IPBDescription">What do i do?!</div> Ok, i got a new mic for NS, never used one before while playing TFC & CS, but NS really needs one.

anyway, i can't get it to work!

i've:
-plugged it in my PC
-Bound ctrl to "Use Voice Comm"
-Clicked "Use Voice In The Mod"
-Talked

and it don't seem to be working...what am i doing wrong? do i need some external software cos i was told that it was built into Half-life... <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Can you be a little more specific as to "doesn't seem to be working?"

    Do they hear something, but it's too quiet? Are you coming through entirely in static? Does NOTHING at all happen?

    Have you tested the mic with the Half-Life voicecomm setup program? (It's somewhere in you HL directory.)

    Have you tested your mic with Sound Recorder just to make sure it works?

    Often if you don't have a mic installed initially, Windows may have it "muted" in the Volume controls (Play Control).

    Check that... under "Options>Properties>Recording."

    To see for yourself if it works ingame, open the console and type voice_loopback 1 . You'll hear yourself talking.

    Yeah, try the voice_tweak program in you half-life folder...

    Also make sure everything is on in the customize menu, you may have accidently unchecked the mic box.

    You did go through the Half Life mic setup right...?

    Yeah...my voice comm doesn't work either in ANY HL mod since I got my new sound card...I reinstalled HL, my sound card is full duplex too. I ran every tweak and console command you can think of. Here's the thing...It starts out fine and then everything I say has an increasing decay, or delay. Also, every other mic program I have works fine..the irony is HL is the only thing on my computer I actually use the mic for...oh irony...you're so...ironic. And yeah...there are 3 different sound drivers for my sound card...tried them all. HL just doesn't like my soundcard *shrugs*
