I think the custom titles as they are make a quick and easy way to identify who's "important"(ie on the dev team or a close friend of them). Works well for new people.
You are correct, sirs. Custom titles, while fun, and interesting, would lead to fighting/bickering. You can already see which group they are in, isn't that enough? :S Drone, Foul Beast etc aren't as intresting as custom titles, and I don't really see any problems by letting people choose their own.
Question is if moderators are willing to experiment with it.
no I don't think people ca nchoose tcustom titles, they're something special, and they do help picking out important people, I never look at the group, but what's beneath the avatar <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
