Ns Crashing Problem

Oh No!</div> I finally got NS, after much deliberation (as to what, I do not know), I downloaded the v1.0 file from natural-selection.org (from the first or second mirror - I'm not too sure). It was the correct size (90.7 MB), and it installed correctly. I started it up, went through the menus, changed my name from NSPlayer to Death, took a quick look through the control menu so I knew at least a little what to do, went to the Internet Games screen, updated the server list, and picked a server. Now, at first it did the same thing that CS used to do to me (before I stopped playing CS); the first time I would try to join a server everyday, it would disconnect in the middle of connecting without fail. So, expecting this, I tried to join a server again. This time, it got all the way to telling me that it was "Initializing and Downloading", and the connection screen started to pull up to show the game, and then it stops for a few seconds, and then I get the infamous <span style='color:blue'><b><i><u>Blue Screen Of Death</u></i></b></span>. I pressed a key, NS quit, and my screen was reset to 640x480 resolution (not a problem - that's easy to fix). I resized my screen, restarted NS and tried again. Same thing. I have tried many different servers many different times. If it helps, here are my specs and the error I got exactly as it appeard on the screen:

P2 488 mhz
128 mb of RAM
(Not sure what my sound card is - how do you find out?)
STB nVidia TNT 16 MB video card
Windows 98

Error:

A fatal exception has occurred at 0028:CB8E58D3 in VXD
AU3OWAVE(01) + 00014523. The current application will be terminated.

Help me, I'm desparate to try NS!

Oh yeah, what files do you have to have to play NS? Only the v1.0 client file from natural-selection.org?
