Commander God Mode... (attack From Chair)!

BorisBoris Join Date: 2002-12-30 Member: 11636Members

Is there plugin to not allow this?
In reading the upgrades to 1.04 I noticed they will fix this problem, but does someone have a plugin that restricts "lastinv" in the commander chair so people can't shoot anywhere on the map from above (as though they were GOD)?

I don't see this exploit used as often as the "Alien Marine" one but it annoys me just as much.

I have the bugfix.dll that fixes the alien marine problem, but I want one to fix the comm chair one as well. If anyone has any info on this it would be appreciated.

ALSO, does anyone know of any problems with the bugfix.dll for the alien marine fix? I want to know if any symptoms have surfaced after installing this...

Thanks,
- Matt

Its listed as fixxed in the 1.04 server patch changes on the main NS news page. But alott of the command chair bugs wont be fixxed till they release a client side patch I'd imagine.

he already has that plugin and it does not fix the comm chair issue.
the issue he speaks of allows a comm to use weapons.
i would also like the fix. i have only had one person exploit this and they were banned as fast as they started it. but a fix would be nice. we still dont know when the latest sever patch will be out.
they give the patches to the "big named" servers first. us little 12 person guys have to wait and suffer the loss of people because the people want to play on the patched servers.

I wasn't even aware of this bug, but seeing as how it's a simple little one I'll go ahead and add it to spidermonkey, it should be available in under an hour from now

Thanks alot for the fix [WHO]Them! It works great!

I wish I knew more about making plugins myself so I could get rid of some of the problems I come across.

Only thing that would be nice would be if you could exclude the second part of your banner, or shorten to just saying
"type 'spmo_commandwatch' in console to receive notification of commands run on server"

I don't mind having the plugin author's name there, you deserve the credit, but the space taken up is too much for my liking. If you could shorten it for your next release, that would be awesome.

Anyways, THANKS a lot for the fix.

**THE ABOVE FIX WORKS FOR BOTH THE COMMANDER CHAIR EXPLOIT I WAS TALKING ABOUT IN THE POST, AND ALSO THE ALIEN MARINE EXPLOIT. IT ALSO HAS OTHER INTERESTING FEATURES. **DOWNLOAD FOR YOUR SERVER

how did you fix this? i just want to make sure it doesnt hinder the use of lastinv for those that use it for normal play.

basically it intercepts all instances of a client using "lastinv", it then checks to see if the player requesting the action is using the commander model(which only happens when a marine is in the command chair), if the client is in fact using the commander model, then the command is ignored. If the player is using any other model then it lets the command go through to the server.

I added lastinv fix to my dll (Only allows players and not commanders to use lastinv command)

still only compiled for windows (and still open source for people who want to compile for linux).

    link: http://www.voogru.net/www/bugfix.zip

Adding it was literally changing one line with the stopcommandermode command. This plugin fixes both the stopcommandermode bug and lastinv.

This is for people who just want the simple bugfix and dont want a connection message and all that stuff from spidermonkey. (only thing its just not compiled for linux, until someone does it)
