<div class="IPBDescription">Disscus how to get started on maping</div> In the description.

I'm no pro of maping but I would love to learn where to start to learn to map and I'm sure there are others who have great ideas but have no way of expressing them. I would hope you could use this topic to derect them (and me) on how to get started and the quwirks of NS maping.

Any reply and info is greatly appreciated!

    First things first, read through the topic entitled "Information for new mappers" ... it's pinned at the top of the topic lists here in the mapping forum.

    Then get yourself a copy of Valve Hammer Editor (formerly Worldcraft) and Zoner's Half Life Tools. There are links to both in the topic I just mentioned.

    Then spend some time reading various tutorials. Make sure you read the NS mapping guide which can be found here:

    <a href='http://nsworld.ns-central.co.uk/mappingguide/mappingguide.php' target='_blank'>http://nsworld.ns-central.co.uk/mappinggui...appingguide.php</a>

    Here are some tutorial sites that I have found useful in my quest to learn HL/NS mapping:

    <ul>
    <li><a href='http://www.thewavelength.net/oldsite/levels/tutorials/' target='_blank'>http://www.thewavelength.net/oldsite/levels/tutorials/</a>
    <li><a href='http://www.vlatitude.com/tutorials.php' target='_blank'>http://www.vlatitude.com/tutorials.php</a>
    <li><a href='http://www.karljones.com/halflife/almanac.asp' target='_blank'>http://www.karljones.com/halflife/almanac.asp</a>
    </ul>

    Then, read the FAQ here (also in a pinned topic) and lurk on these forums for a while. I especially like these forums for finding inspiration for my own mapping. Seeing screenshots of other mapper's works in progress really keeps me going.

    Have fun!
