Whenever I Enter A Game It Messes Up!

I installed NS without any problem, and I can get into NS just fine, but when I select a server and get into a game my display completely screws up. First off the right half of my screen is completely black. The game display is on the left half but it is in purple! I can barley see anything at all. I did everything that was posted here on the forum including downloading the driver for my GeForce 2 (32 mb) and <b>not</b> running the game from the desktop shortcut. I have the retail version of counterstrike and I downloaded NS from the BlueYonder HTTP mirror on the official webpage. Here is my system information:

Sony Vaio Computer
Windows XP
GeForce 2 32 mb
1.5 gigahertz pentium 4 processor
384 mb RAM
Running a 1280x1024 display
Cable internet connection

    From the main menu hit configuration, and hit video modes, select Open GL and the 2nd one down. 640 by 480 i think. Play round with the settings in there, because I know for sure that that is where the problem lies.
