very interestign read sheena. I ve had thoughts of a machine like ppl like gundams, wanzers ( frontmission3), aromored cores ( armored core) or what ever you want to call them. My idea is that you would be suspended basicly in the torso, you would be in a exo skeletal suit almost that mimics you motion as you move. This would make it easy for you to move your feet, waist, and torso. You would wear googles so you see thru the camera on the head of the robot and so on. I come up with all sorts of ideas when i get into things that fasanate (however you spell me tired ) me. with those exo skeletal suits that i see a picture of and ideas from frontmission 3 seem pretty much usefull. as in front mission 3 wanzers were made for both war and construction. Construction wanzers speed up the tiem for construction and less need for equipment. Even if it just human size like that other concept drawing that fits your legs and arms it could be used very nicly for construction. In front mission 3 those wanzers were mass produced in the military as it was able to carry large weapons and only needed one person to pilot which made there army bigger with them instead of using tanks. If some one could take that concept drawing it would be a kewl model replacement for the heavy or sumthing. Oh yeah frontmission 3 had wanzer installations that made prototypes, mass produced and delivered them. There was a wired oen that was able to be used remotly at the beginning ok im going on to much bout fm3 buts its so good!
Not so shabby no offence but its so weird looking. But you did put effort in it and did a good job of trying and I give you good credits for that.
What primitive control systems, what would be most efficient would be to wire the machine directly into the pilots nervous system. Why efficient? Ever noticed how a large animal has a larger brain on average without *any* increase in intelligence or sensory capabilities? It's becasue it takes constant realtime compensation to balance a moving object. Thats why you can't walk and run and jump at birth. I think it takes more processing power to make a robot just stand up than any computer that can fit into said robot.
The brain should be able to adapt quickly to the exoskeleton if it is provided with proper spatial and sensory input. Make pressure sensitive robot skin made of billions of pressure sensitive cells, each of which must connected to an artificial nerve that can safely conduct electricity to the spinal cord. The same goes for motor nerves, but the layout and connection points of each nerve, as well as conductive properties, must be as close to the pilots system as possible. This isn't a complete cyborg if done properly, although a brain removed from a clone fetus and wired into the machine since birth would be ideal.
Even if you use a disembodied brain, there will be a lag in response time, since certain movements are executed automatically by adjacent muscle tissue. I suppose that microchips with built in tolerances could be mounted at certain nexuses of sensory nerves, and execute certain movements. Human nerve tissue is a complicated wiring job, not to mention fragile. If you just wanted power armor you could have probably have a "switch" located close to the brain stem that could divert the path of signals to the exoskeleton. I don't know enough about the subject to say whether such a thing would be possible without some horrible, maybe fatal, side effect of disconnecting the medulla from vital organs. I don't know the wiring too well as I said before, but it should be possible to connect to the machine for limited periods of time, since pulse is completely autonomous. I don't think breathing is, so blood will have to be manually re-oxygenated.
As for sight and hearing, just cut out the eyes or lead wires around them to the optic nerve, or a similar switch type thing. Hearing is either the same or hole and a wire straight to the brain. The human body is the culmination of 5 billion years of evolution, or maybe something carried on stardust for even longer, or divine wisdom. Bionics makes sense, living things operate on mechanistic principles, so copy them.
ED: I've never taken anatomy or physiology, so don't flame me too much.
What are you saying Netalid? That has nothing to do with skins. Btw keep up the good work uh i forgot the skinners name what ever good job anyways.
Oh, my God, Sheena, you modelled a Guges?!?!? Or was that someone else's work? That's not exactly police-issue underwear she's got, there... Looks like an outfit out of Intron Depot [I've got the enormous silk screen in front of me, above my computer...].
I like Briareos' system, myself, but I wouldn't give up all the functions of my own body for it. He wears much nicer armour, but he's forever sepparated from Deunan [*sob*].
The Appleseed movie leaves so much to be desired, but the books... And the tech supplement... Oh, just shoot me. Shirow is amazing.
And that pistol Sheena showed in that girl's hand [not Deunan?!?! she's the one who had that model Guges!] isn't a classic pistol [more of a rifle for really close-range fights with armoured beasties, or crowd control]. It fires "baton" rounds, but can also fire much more lethal stuff, a bit like a shotgun. Given the size of the clip, it doesn't carry much.
"Baton" rounds are big rubber things that spread out in to a nice, big X before they punch in to you and are normally capable of knocking over most people, even light cyborgs. Great non-lethal stopping power, but they leave a mean bruise if you shoot yourself in the foot.
I like Deunan's sword... That sort of thing would make for a very interesting addition to the NS universe.
Cant wait to see the M.A.L.I.C.E. in game, or a Guges should someone decide to make one...
However, we are forgetting the Light Marine in all of our conversions here... Just a thought to ponder on
neptalid, my ideas seem more thesable for the near future, and as for hooking up directly could put oyu in serious danger from emp weapons or electricla weapons of some sorts. And i dont think the military will go that far to do that with a clone as the public might not go thru with having them do that.
argh i am getting owned by icewolve argh gonne have to HEAL HIM MUAHAHAHHAHAHA
yeah wolf.. thats not a handgun..its more a very compact 12 gauge shootgun.. a close combat man stopping gun that fires rubberstunammo . its a advanced version of deunans poseidon/noricon gong stungun.. i labeled this stungun with seburo.. i think it fits more..cause seburo got lots of non lethal weapon systems..like the mn23.. yeah..the seburo mn23 is a nonlethal manstoping weapon... ive designed the gun for swfreeD (synthetic worlds 3D) . he modelled a lower res version for animation.. i dont know if it still aviable in some 3d shops .. or maybe hes gven them away for free already.. dunno.. most importand is that ive done rapid prototype blanks from the 3dmodel ..so ive got this gun now in plastic ..
it would still be a good pistol/shotgun replacment
i would definitly use it as a pistol, unless its a small SMALL auto shotgun, cause it isnt basicly a shotgun unless it doesnt have its c0ck thingy midgegy
btw i was looking at the pic you posted of alice in the vmodel. maybe have it when you have a gren the rocket things fire off and just make the hmg and lmg barrale the same except soem weird animation play and change to let you know and the shutgun a barrel on the bottom. btw how sthe progress ?!?!?!?
