<div class="IPBDescription">can someone give me an overview?</div> Of course, I get that it progresses from 1.00 to 1.01, etc... I guess these would be the small changes that modify rather than add code? Of course, I imagine some code would be added considering that there are almost always small additions, so what differentiates this from the more substantial change from 1.04 to 1.1?... and at 1.1, do the smaller changes progress again to 1.12 and so on?? Finally, what justifies the leap to 2.0 (as opposed to 1.2)?

I'm really just asking all of this out of pure curiosity, and the desire to understand software better--feel free to add any related material not covered in my question. Much thanks to all who reply.

Well, the way I think it's going is that the hundredth place is for server patches and the tenths place is for client patches, thus NS 1.0 is a client release, 1.01, 1.02, 1.03, 1.04, are all serverside only patches, and 1.1 is another clientside patch. Am I right?

First position: Series (1 for HL, 2 for HL2, etc)
Second position: Major release (adds many new features)
Third position: Mod release (includes a new mod)
