Crashing When Joining A Game

<div class="IPBDescription">Getting Bsod :(</div> I saw this in a older topic but noone had replied to it and I am having the same problem now.
I am using the CS Retail package and have the latest cs patch.
I downloaded NS and got through the installiation using the dummy and everything.
I am able to start up ns and browse the menus and and everything,
But when I try to join a server, it goes through its inital setup of connecting and everything
and right as the console goes away and the game loads, I can sometimes hear a sound for a split second before i immediately go to the lovely blue screen of death. and I have run out of ideas of what to do.
I reinstalled everything but that didnt help, and I also got the latest Nvidia drivers for my video card.
Before i got new drivers I didnt get bsod, but my monitor would shut off and i would have to hit a button to bring it back up, which then ns was gone and i was left in 640x480 mode, which it still does that part now.
If anyone has an idea please help as I would really like to try NS out.
I am running an asus 1.8 ghz Hd with Windows 98 Se
Geforce 4 Mx 420
Sonic Impact a3d sound card
120 ghz Wd hd
512 Mb DDRAM
a default monitor
and running 32 bit true color in 1024x768
