Yes, everyone here knows there are good-looking flamethrowers both in Paroxysm and Desert Crisis. Yes, we know it's possible to do that stuff, no, Flayra won't include a flamer just because he managed to make it look good - there are also other issues such as performance needs and the 'volumentric' stuff to think about.

I can't really see the Idea or Suggestion in this thread, so I'll flip a coin to find out whether I'll move it to Off-Topic or lock it.

    ...

    Damn, you're lucky.

looks better than the TFC one ....thank god <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> , it would be kewl to have it look realy nice but then again my 450Mhz p3 might have a problem with it <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> , atm i dont think NS needs any new weapons because there is still alot of options and ways of using the guns we have right now.

in the future tho i think it would be kewl to add new weapons , tho this might back fire and some weapons wont be use much anymore.

Its things like this that make design hard, I really think that if you consider the new r_speed limits (800 for player and 1000 for commander), that this pc wouldnt stand a chance of running some of the more high-end maps (like hera).

and the tfc flamethrow = teh win!111<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
That is precisely the R_speed limits outlined in the mapping guidelines.

You can make a map with as high R_speeds as you like, just don't expect it to be official.

Anything looks better than the TFC flamethrower my friend. I wonder if the volumetric majesty Flayra is looking for is possible.

I remember hearing that Flayra once said he'd only put a flamethrower into NS if he could get it to look just as good as the one in RTCW. Heh. I think that if anyone can do it, Flayra can. :)

And when it comes to coding in game engines, its not about whether things are POSSIBLE, but whether things are worth the time and effort it will take to make it work, and worth the system hit it'll take to have said feature be used.

That reminds me of a mapping competition I was reading about a while back on some CS site. The mappers were told to create maps and not to worry about r_speeds. I saw some pics of the maps and they looked sweet! Of course not playable but pretty nonetheless.

well since that last post i bought my self a new PC , y? because i cba with NS running at 4 FPS <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

woohoo! i can finaly run Ns at more than 640x480!

btw the min specs for half-life was made so it ran at 25fps , which isnt that good anyway <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

You're talking about the last contest of counter-strike.de.
The guy in charge of their mapping section (calling himself 'Gunslinger^n/a', go figure...) gave a number of blurbs, each transporting a certain mood that could be used as theme for the submissions. One of them was an excerpt from the Dark Tower.

CS.de started out as a German translation for CSnation, so...

Anyway, they get the Bender comics (the only thing that still connects me with Counter-Strike), so I'll keep on clogging their bandwith.

he shouldnt call it a flame thrower if hes gonna make it volumetric because flamethrowers arent they just launch flamable liquid like napalm that sticks and burns on things. I dont know how that is volumetric. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

Last time I checked, we called a light assaultrifle 'LMG'. Heavenly punishment hasn't occured as of yet.

Oh man, Bender Comics.. I loved those things.

Ok, jetzt muss ich BodyArmor kaufen, Defusal Kit, MP5.. OK los geht's! Ach scheisse! Ich habe fast vergessen, ammo zu kaufen!

Toeten wir ihn jetzt oder spater?
Aehm, lassen wir ihn ein Bisschen rumlaufen.

Or something like that. They still make Bender Comics? The Bender Models for CS 1.3 were pretty funny, too.
