Yay!</div> 4 screenshots that don't really do the lighting justice, but the best parts of the map I can't show you pictures of: The places where its totally dark with one or 2 areas brightly lit (res node for example) with the rest of the room draped in shadows. You WILL have to use your flashlight in this map. Its there for a reason.

On to the pics:

The newest atrium picture, 99 percent completed, will only change it if I run into bugs later on in the beta.

    Tram Access: Completed. I -may- add a few more accessories after the initial beta if people complain its too boring. Since the tunnel is so long I had to keep it fairly simple for r_speeds.

    Marine Start - Deep Storage. Completed. Lighting is actually brighter in game than in the picture, but its still not as bright as you are used to for marine starts.

    Snack Bar area, only needs a info_location because I havent thought of a good name for it yet. Its final except for the soda machines which I may remove later on if enough people **** about it.

    Its Dr. Pepper and Pepsi machines that look extremely realistic.

    Evolving if you make me custom snack machines.... I can't think of a good way to finish that sentence, so lets just say I'll be very grateful.

    You might not... 2nd to last compile and I've run into an impossible alloc block: full error with no explanation which I'll have to blindly stab at until I stumble onto a fix. Going to post a thread about it and hope someone knows more than me.

    ^Requiem^, I highly suggest you do NOT use Dr. Pepper and Pepsi vending machines, for 2 very good reasons:

    1) It violates the copyright of both companies. And in the past they actually have gotten mad over this sort of thing. One example is back when Action Quake almost got foxed cause they had a Coca-Cola billboard in a map. You don't want any problem like that...

    2) It doesn't fit the NS theme in any way whatsoever to have modern-ish vending machines set in the future.

    I'm not saying no vending machiens at all, I'm just saying make em different. Why not get a good texture guy to help you (if you can't do it yourself) and try to think up what a future vending machine would look like? Perhaps make it look kinda retro-ish, like a 1950's coke machine but w/ circuitry and hi-tech displays on it and stuff.

    have it built into a wall, if u watch any film or TV show set in the future on spaceships etc, or in fact any other ns map, all monitors, food machines, drinks machines etc etc are built into walls <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> (note: red dwarf snack machines etc.)

    w00t! Go reqium! I'm dling this map when it comes out! btw, I definitly would listen to DOOManiac on that one, you don't want any copyright problems on your hands. Maybe you could give it a cool Deus Exish design. Kinda modern, but still futuristic. Have it sell Jet Cola (a la Shenmue)!

    Haha, I think DOOM is right, the vending machines seem out of place in a futuristic Marine base type thing.

    I agree, but many people have said they loved them there and to definitly keep them... I don't know what i should do.

    I don't know what I'd put in their place but I'd think of something.

    You are crazy if you think the soft drink manufacturers would pass up an opportunity to place thier product in space. Realistically, they would probably *not* be using cans due to physics and vaccum of space etc... but since there is no known design for a soda fountain in space, I would suggest that a vending machine would be a decent alternative.     make one biger "natural selection" sign instead of 2 small ones. Or 2/2 signs; left natural , right selection.

    Compiling problem fixed wohoo! I will finish it up and compile the beta build tomorrow for release. Here are a few more screens till then:

    First one is updated hive area Wind Tunnel. Its EXTREMELY dangerous to walk on the catwalks, because you have no way to see what is lerking out in the black shadows. (Most of your nightmares, i expect) If you want to take the hive as marine you have to take the room outside and then seige it, as the hive is easily reachable from the room outside but ONLY the room outside, but going into the room itself is pure suicide from what I've seen so far.

    Next one is the updated hanger hive, its much brighter all around and its a harder hive to defend, the hive itself is seigeable but its tough you can't really get close enough easily. (Its reachable from Paradise Lost I beleive, which is easy as hell to defend)

    The view is seen from a marine standpoint crouching in a vent.
