I'm a sysadmin by trade. BOFH is not something you're born with, the job conditions it into you

    I'm a nice person. Really, I am!

Because he did/said something that the board admins deemed worthy of a suspension. It's between him and the admins; let it be.

If this bloke IS on BTO, crashing servers etc is definitely a breach of his terms and conditions...If you contact them with proof, they may well kick him off...

Yes very funny. I can't believe you are so afraid of this idiot. I am in the UK and have a dynamic IP address with adsl (not BTopenworld but a reseller of the same line). The thing is although the IP address is technically dynamic it hardly ever changes and it wouldn't be too hard to give the pc at the other end a friendly prod to see if it's the one you think it is, unless of course he's thinking ahead. For example I use a router rather than a modem. The default path for all inbound connection is to a pc that I often have switched off, on top of that I have a lightweight firewall. This relatively minor ammount of preotection gives me a certain ammount of security - I'm sure a serious hacker could get into my PC and do all manner of harm, but would they really want to? Would it be worth their effort? No. There are easier and more rewarding targets.

Those cd-keys he has are either duplicates of genuine peoples keys or stolen copies of HL, I suggest rather than banning all the wonid's you can find you write a nice admin_mod script to really screw up his install the next time he messess with you, ? Or if spamming is the worst that he does perhaps admin_gag ?

Just because his IP is dynamic, doesn't mean he's untraceable either. Any ISP worth their salt keeps logs of their DHCP transactions, so if you know when he had a given IP address, they can find out who he is.

In terms of legality, anyone that runs a server can claim that "hacking" it is a DMCA Breach. Personally, I hate the DMCA, but I would laugh my **** off if a cheater was tried as a terrorist because they got one too many headshots in a counterstrike game.
