Res Bug Solved

Voogru's new project
I wasn't on the forums for a few days so I will post this topic, I don't know if anybody said this yet.

Its common for a lamer to go F4 - Alien - And repeat. Since every alien starts out with 10 res doing that quickly can add to the res pool. Now I think that there is no reason for a player to go to the ready room more then 3 times in a game, so essencially they can -F4 -add 10 - Alien -F4 add 10 - Alien F4 -add 10 - Alien -F4 functions are now off. To help it out the ammount of time between each F4 can be 10 mins. minimum. So even if all players go F4 3 times in 30 min, it won't help the fatties.

Meh, that doesn't really solve the problem though. It would just serve to limit it somewhat, and annoy regular, non-abusive players. When you leave, your resources should be gone completely; that's the price you pay.

Hmm, I assume the marines will lose (total rp)/(no. of marines) when a marine leaves then?

MARINES DON'T HOLD RES POINTS FOR EACH PERSON, ONLY IN A TEAM POOL. DUH lol sorry for the caps

You only get 10 res when you join the team the first time.

After that you have to save from 0. Essentially, if you still want to save up 33 res and donate it and start over again from 0 you can. And during the beginning minutes of the game it may take upwards of 10 minutes to save up 33 res if you have more than 1 gorge.

    This arguement is moot.

Heh, the alien resources aren't really individual, either. A newbie going gorge and wasting rp on chambers in the middle of nowhere is bad. This is basically the same thing, rp earned for the team go to /dev/null.

I have a question about alien ressources: If say there's one gorge on the team and the rest is skulk and they're all 33/33, does the gorge get ALL the res points to himself, or are they wasted on each skulk?

Oh and also what exactly is the ratio of resource acquirement between gorges and skulks? is it 2:1 ? 3:2?

When a non-gorge alien is full on res, the excess goes to the gorges. I think, when an alien player leaves the SERVER, not just going back to the ready room, their res should go to some sort of invisible res tower that would distribute it back like a normal res tower. If a player just goes to the ready room then they should just lose all the res and it goes nowhere.

When i as HA HMG marine get connection problems or press F4 accidently my team looses 50+ ressources invested in me.
    Same as full upgraded Fade.

    What about that?

Going ready-room as a fade with 66/66 res, or even 33/33 or 100/100 res, is still pumping a set of res into the system. Yes, you lose whatever res you've invested in your own class, but at the same time every res you had stored up goes to the rest of the team in the usual divisions.

In the case of Marines, if you leave the team I believe your weapons are still dropped, so someone else can pick them up. HA or a Jetpack are gone, but your weapons hang around for 30 seconds or so when you die or leave last I checked.

How about this. When you go to the ready room you take your resources with you. When you come back, you get your RP's back. Instead of giving you 10 RPs when you join, it would check and see if you have less then 10 RPs. If you have less then 10, then it will set you to 10 RPs. If you have more then 10, then no change will be done.

I can't think of any way to exploit this, besides trying to act like a resource sponge.

I'd be happy is when an alien presses F4, the resources are just gone. This shouldn't be too much of a big deal in pub games, the gorge resource exploit would be fixed, people who try and do it would be punished by losing their resources for nothing, and most players don't go into the ready room mid-game unless they want to concede or meet a friend out there or something like that. An alien losing his individual resources doesn't hurt the team nearly as much as losing a player that could be attacking or building.

No one F4's in clan matches, so it wouldn't effect this at all.

DocZ, so you have no misunderstanding, here is how it goes...

Like Vash said, when an alien hits his resource limit, the excess are put back in the pool to be distributed to aliens that are not at their resource limit. Because the gorge will recive 3 to 1 resources over other alien types, the excess will most likely end up with the gorge. If there are enough resources to go around, other alien types will start to recive a higer share, if the gorge was pulling in 6 resources a tick, this means the other aliens are getting 2 per tick.

When all aliens resources become full, the excess resources are stored in an invisible pool. This is why sometimes you will see your res shoot up quickly, for instance, you are a gorge at 100/100, you build a few towers, and your res shoot right back up to 100. The res in the excess pool are instantly distributed to aliens that have room to carry them.
