Metamod: Gorges Take Resources From Teammates

Here's my newest metamod plugin.
Unlike my other ones this one is not 100% guaranteed to work (like any of them ever were, but this time I know ahead of time).
But when it works, here's what it does.....
Whenever a gorge uses a healing spray on a teammate, he automatically takes 1 resource from said player until the player is out of resources or the gorge can't use the spray anymore (out of adrenaline). This is not limited to the player that the gorge is facing, it will take resources from any player within a 100 unit radius (which is about 2 gorge widths) in every direction simultaneously (so if the gorge is surrounded by 8 players, he'll get 8 resources per spray).
Unlike my other plugins this one will NOT be opensource seeing as how me and voogru feel that it should not be released unto the general public (a mix of being too devastating to the mods, and also just too hard to figure out to just give away)
this has gone through a bit of testing on both my windows and linux test servers and seems to work fine.

well the problem i was facing was that adding new console commands like voogru did confuses too many ppl. And if you test the logistics of this plugin it's almost impossible for a gorge to take much more than 5-6 resources from any person at a time, and seeing as how EVERYTHING can outrun the gorge i don't think it's going to be a serious issue.
any gorge that would use this to be an **** would have been an **** beforehand, and besides, you always get a free heal <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Just my 2 cents of course. Because I don't really care one way or the other.
But as I said, that’s a choice an admin has to make themselves I guess. It’s not like its being forced on anyone. But I truly think releasing such mods and plugins are doing more harm then good at this stage in the games development. Perhaps you guys should make your own games, rather then trying to redesign someone elses? Or at the least wait until they have finished the game and moved outa beta.
I DONT agree with the whole wait till its out of beta stages and the teams are fair bit.
These plugins add to the game, and the guys who are making them probably think that this will improve the game, so these may be added in later. after the game is all faired up, plugins are going to make it unfair.
And I will once again state, that I think its presumptuous to start changing such aspect of the game when it’s barely 2 months old, still in beta1, with only 3 patches out. And these patches are not just bug fixes. But changes to the game itself. As it’s still a work in progress. I'm starting to wonder if some of you understand what "beta" means. At least voogru had the common decency to keep such changes limited to his server alone. Releasing such plugins has seriously lowered my option of them.
I will even go so far as to state that such plugins should not be hosted off the forums as attachments at this time. Perhaps you should start a mega ns or modified ns page. As that seems to be what you are trying to do with such plugins. My God, at least give Flayra time to create his game before you start changing it to how you think it should run.

Yea your not being presumptuous at all are you.
I think you guys have let your enthusiasm run away with you. It’s all well and good to like the game and want to be helpful. But I think releasing such plugins is stepping way over the line. It’s beyond arrogance to decide how you think the game should work. Especially going so far as to post such changes on the official forums, why not just spit in Flayra’s face and tell him how he should make his game? The more I think about this topic the more is annoys me.
i think a modded server name is a good idea so those that like vanilla ns can go find it. myself, i like the chocolate vanilla swirl.

althought you maybe right. the ammount of players on a server greatly change the balance. I bet 10v10 strats do not work on a 7v7 player server (such as mine).
marines can still win on 7v7, but it just takes more teamwork than a 10v10 server.
i don't see anyproblems with the plugins, although i do not use them because i like my server the way it is now, but the plugins are great ideas.
So even though the dev team is planning for the best balance for most servers, apparently mine doesn't fall into that category since it has more than it's fair share of newbies or something.
Tribes was just an example used to show modding out of control. It doesn't really apply in comparison with NS as it was a commercial game.(not a beta release). And mods for things like TF etc. Didn't start appearing till well after the game was established and all the major bugs removed and game concept practically finished.

1. How in the HELL does this stop people from making their game ? last I checked 1.04 was still in development despite any mods that have been created.
2. What player doesn't have at least a rudimentary understanding that in ALL games, different servers sometimes have different rules.
so. here's an updated release that should help that out

also I'm trying to work the logistics of making a new mod that would basically create "phase medpacks" and "phase ammo"....
get a phasegate, drop ammo and armor in it, whenever someone uses the menu for need medpack or need ammo it would allocate one to that user
this one fixes a bug in detecting when a gorge is using healing spray.
more specifically, the delay in detection since we don't want to think the gorge used healing spray 50 times when he actually used it once.

please don't knock it unless you've actually tried it, it takes more coordination than you think to hand off those resources

it has been working great on my server.
gorges get the rc needed to stop hive rushes and the skulks have to do without there carapace for a longer time. it actually balances out nicely.
Though I could be completely wrong and the marines still have a good chance of winning, it's just what it looks like to me
Functionally this is no different than 1.02, but 1.02 had a minor oversight that would cause the logs to get spammed with about 20 lines of
"[META] ERROR: Plugin didn't set meta_result: gorgeres.dll:PlayerPreThink()"
at a time when a gorge held down the attack button in the lobby. This update should eliminate that from showing up in the logs. But if you don't keep logs then you shouldn't bother updating.
