Quick survey results and ideas

<div class="IPBDescription">Wow, lots of response!</div>Thanks everybody for the survey answers.  By all means get over and post if you havn't answered yet, but I think we can draw a few conclusions from what's there already.

The answers seem to fall into a couple of categories:

Word of mouth (I'm including IRC in this braod category.)
PHL (No surprise, it's one of the biggest forces in HL modding today.)
Some other site

So basically what we have is an internet only "follow-the-links" ad campaign.

I think we should try to bring in some other types of media.  

Has anybody looked into getting a brief write up in PC Gamer or some other gaming mag.?  They do articles on games in developement all the time and I know that PC Gamer, at least, is VERY HL mod friendly.  Almost all their monthly CDs have a mod on them. (Saves us 56K peons some ugly downloads.)

Any thoughts, MonsieurEvil?

    PC Gamer featured the mod expo, of which this was one of the mods. I'm surprised it didn't get mentioned. I know some people here were pulled in after reading PCG.

    Hmm, I'll have to check my back issues.  Still I think we could pester them for a more specific article.  Or to at least release it on their CD when it is completed.

    ive sent some emails to the redaction of the major dutch games magazine... i hope they put something in... they have not (yet) replied, but i gave them enough information i think...

    Seriously though, PCG would get this mod huge exposure, especially if it were to be released on an accompanying CD.  Get on it, MonsE!

    We were in the February edition of PCG (along with the other mods of Valve's Mod Expo).

    Perhaps when we get closer to release that could be an option. Usually, magazines coming looking for you...

    They need to get freaky with Ns just like they dun got freaky with DoD.  I pity the foo who don't write about NS, I pity the foo!  I'm talking features and whatnot, like articles in their "Extended Play" section is what you got to aim for.  Now obviously you can't go right up to them and tell them to feature you, but you sure as hell can get the ball rolling.....

    Maybe once we get closer to release date we can send them a couple of offcial emails and snail mails (it means a lot if someone actually goes to the trouble of using an envelope). In the meantime maybe some of us forum goers could shoot out a few FRIENDLY emails to the editor.  Mr. T style smackdowns might not go over too well.
