I think the skin fits in just fine with the rest. It is quite a bit darker than the rest, but I think the style is kept consistent enough.
/me wants to see that thing in its mantis pose.... <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
I love the new skin. If you look at it closely, you can kinda see that its pink underneath. I imagine the level 4 is the main stalker/hunter (bob being the scout, and the level 5 trampling rather than stalking), so it would make sense for it to be colored darker. Also, it looks like he's got some scales going there. Perhaps when his skin hardened it turned blackish? Kinda like (some) caterpillars are green or brown, but when they turn into a butterfly their body (not their wings) is black.
Anyway, I think he looks good, except he might want to see a dentist about those swollen gums... or a plastic surgeon about those swollen lips!
Now Mole needs a shot from the proper angle to make his avatar complete!
Very nice job, Mojo, Beaner, and Cory <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
(btw I sometimes call the level 3 stinky, because of the gas clouds he makes... it rhymes with 'blinky' at any rate. And it ends with an EE sound [*ahem* unlike Bob] <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->)

So it's Pudgy, Stinky, Blinky, Tiny, and Bob. I like it. It just rolls off your tongue! <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
Well I must say blinky looks positively evil, and he's definately the meanest looking of the bunch (yes, meaner than tiny). Can't wait to play as this guy, he must have some killer moves which make me salivate just thinking of them.
omg he can teleport and olly, this is deffinatly goign to be my favorite class!! I can already imagine ollying to a teleport then sliceing them marines up!
I think its another big hit. Although i pictured myself this alien the same colors as the other ones; not this black. But this looks really fine too. Also, i think he has a little bit too much toothmeat (tandvlees ?) and a too less teeth...
The shoulder growth fires explosive alien bile goo... ehhh... stuff. Think of it as a rocket launcher. It's not in yet, so I can't give you much more detail than that.
Now, before getting to far away from the ollying stuff, exactly how does it work? The only thing Ive heard about it is something like "jumping off walls", and that doesnt really say much... Is it similar to the "wall jumping" in megamam X? Sort of climbing walls, but not ceilings?
gee, thanks for clearing that up for me...... i like the idea behind blinky, really prevents the marines from utterly locking down a single place within the map, though i imagine that this may lead to unbalanced gameplay, as if the entire alien team was composed of lv.4's what would their disadvantage be? I mean, they can phase through wall, "riccochet off of walls" whatever that means, and are some of the baddest mamma-jammas around...now excuse me, but in Gasfiend's Big Book of Gameplay, unless something like that has a huge disadavntage, we're gonna be seeing a lot of this critters running around our maps. If we could have some disadvanages listed and a better explanation of riccochet effetcs, that'd be great... Gasfiend Probably Came In Too Late In This Topic
You won't have tons of Lev4's running around, as they are a very expensive evolution; if you die, you respawn as a Lev1 and have to buy the evolution all over again.
Try to remember why we playtest: to make sure the game is balanced. As a rule, you can assume it will be, and not worry about it as much as some people seem to do around here...
Wait a minute. You mean every time an alien dies they have to start over and earn all their points again?! So basically, you have to be a highly-skilled killing fiend with Bob or you're never getting anywhere? The aliens just went from sounding really cool to really impossible. Please tell me I'm missing something and there's something else a Bob can do besides wax Marines to get points.
Remember Bob is still a match for more than one marine. So it shouldn't be that hard. However I can now see I'll never be Lvl 5 since I have the annoying habit of dying. <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->
They should pass on some of the points! If you make it to lvl 4 you start your next life with enough points to be lvl. 2. Something like that. I'm going to do some serious research on this in the F.A.Q.s and see if I can find something.
"However, alien structures that harvest resources split the resources up among the team roughly equally. The alien team also gets resources from each active hive."
From readyroom NS Features section:
"On the Alien side, resources are a reflection of how many hives are active, and how many Marines have been killed. Unlike the Marine team, Aliens can spend points on themselves as they wish. A player boosts his class with extra speed, armor, size, and abilties - whatever he wants to do to 'tune himself up' for duty."
So we get resources ie. the ability to become Blinky, not just from our own personal "Dead Marine" pile but also from the Hives and various structures that Pudgy pukes up. Ok. I'm much less concerned now.
Call me an idiot but somehow I had never previously directly connected the structures with my personal ability to morph to the next lvl. of alien.

Looks good! That's all of them... the list of things to do before release is one shorter now.

Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Dopey, Grumpy, Bashful, and Doc.
anyway, level 4 looks great. I'd hate to meet that sick guy on the battlefield
And some more comments, reverse joint legs rule! I love them! And his ribs are showing, he needs some marines to eat.
