Thats a basic shot of what stratplan looks like. Basically its software which can be used for planning marine strategies in NS. You can find out more info <a href='http://www.mercior.com/sp_about.shtml' target='_blank'>here</a>.

The reason I'm making this topic is because the software is now complete, and I have emailed Teanku, the guy who made the map overviews that stratplan uses and he is not responding. So, I am looking for somebody who can make me map overviews to the same scale & style as Tenakus, for ns_caged, ns_nothing, ns_tanith & ns_nancy. Whoever can help me out will be credited in the software <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

An example of Tenaku's map overviews can be found <a href='http://www.planetns.com/art/images/overhead/ns_bast.jpg' target='_blank'>here</a>.

    Ehrm, does this program take server-patches/client updates into account??
    (such as siege-range)

    Yes the siege range displayed is compliant with 1.04 (it may need a slight bit of adjusting). I will release updates for future NS patches <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    [Edit] And it will be released when I can get those map overviews! Thats why I'm posting here [/Edit]

    Well can we download it and just place the maps in a folder or are they going to be 'built in' if you allow maps to be just placed in a 'maps' folder with a given pixel/ingame distance then anyone who wants can add/edit the maps which would be a cool feature.

    Kickass idea for a program btw, kudos to you.

    These are the maps I use for the game:

    <a href='http://www.tribes2maps.com/ns/' target='_blank'>http://www.tribes2maps.com/ns/</a>

    The maps aren't by the same guy as your example, but they are very good if you need to look for an alternative. No idea if they are completely to scale however.

    Try this website for maps that I think are to scale:

    <a href='http://nstactics.lanvancouver.com/' target='_blank'>http://nstactics.lanvancouver.com/</a>

    The server is down for me right now, but Nazgul made those maps.

    The overhead map section on PlanetNS is a bit outdated. Most of the maps have been altered a bit since they were put up on the site. My ns_caged map, for example, is now rotated correctly to match the view from the CC, and gives credit to manah, not relic25 for making the map. The one on their site is the first one.

    They'd all look the same that way.

    You could probably use Bytor's maps, they're accurate, and simple. <a href='http://www.tribes2maps.com/ns' target='_blank'>http://www.tribes2maps.com/ns</a>.

    You should probably ask him first though.

    It includes Kharaa support, I hope? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
  • MerciorMercior Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 4019Members, Reinforced - Shadow
    Nope no khaara support as I considered it to be pointless :/

    What I'm looking for, is a set of map overviews which all keep the same style and that dont look ugly (Those plain white ones dont look very nice). As Tenaku already made 3 very nice looking <a href='http://www.planetns.com/art/images/overhead/ns_bast.jpg' target='_blank'>map overviews</a>. I was hoping that some kind person would try and recreate the missing 4 map overviews in the same style as Tenakus... No luck yet though

    Mercior, I found the rest of the maps your looking for.

    They can be found on this webpage:

    <a href='http://www.ns-central.co.uk/overviews.php' target='_blank'>Natural Selection UK</a>

    And I hope you will eventually add Khaara suppport.

    Now hurry and get this program released <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Kharaa support could just be ability to place tokens or something?
    That movable indicator is already enough to make it useful for kharaa <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
