Ns On Cgw

<div class="IPBDescription">"Computer Gaming World"</div> Here's what they had to say:

<i>Just when we thought the Half-Life engine couldn't be pushed any further, along comes Natural Selection. Although the theme of pitting a team of well-equipped marines against bloodthirsty aliens is a rip-off, Natural Selection has plenty of surprises. It combines an intense shooter with an equally intense RTS, implementing a resource model for building units and equipment and giving one marine the role of commander. Commaners view the action from overhead, doling out resources and giving orders, so the other marines can deal with the biggest threats. The aliens have the ability to evolve into a different type of unit--provided there's enough time and resources.</i>

Sorry, but I don't have a scanner with me. It only showed one tiny pic anyway <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I can't believe NS is gaining so much fame, it's been in most of the top PC gaming magazines to date. Awesome.

As far as I know, it still hasn't made it into PCG (PC Gamer). PCG is friggin' huge, and I believe that their awards issue is coming up. I wrote them an email about NS so that it would have a fair chance at Mod of the Year, and I'm sure others have, too.

It's great recognition, but I think that this could have been worded a little bit nicer-- maybe saying it's an overused cliché or something-- to me, rip off means it's swiping from one easily identifiable entity, whereas NS's notable influences are well over a dozen.

    Other than that, cool.

UK PCG mind, but no less an achievement.

ugh, CGW is the worst magazine. It's so immature and short-attention-spanned. Notice they give reviews at only the far ends of the spectrum, and never actually discuss what makes or breaks the game?

I subscribe to computer games magazine (formerly CGS+). i don't know, it just seems to me like it's alot more professional.

Frankly, I'm a bit disappointed with the magazine as well. In fact, most of the magazines I have read focus a lot on graphics and CS-type games, if you know what I mean. Any recommendations? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
