I've been working on it's performance, cutting down on r_speeds, clipnodes, max entities, max planes and other things that can't really be shown with visuals. But I had an inspiration for my commander console and here it is. It looks like it's glowing in the first pic because it's in USE. When it's not in use the door opens (which you can see from the second pic)

-edit- I wonder if there is a better texture to use for the outside/inside. That one seems a tad undetailed. Or even two different textures, one for the outside (probably the that's on there now), and a seperate one for inside.

Very cool idea. Second pic looks kinda messed up, could be just an odd angle. Hell, it's a sphere... I couldn't imagine making that. Nice work.
Don't get me wrong though, that thing is pretty cool, and I'd certainly like to see it in action.
Oooh... now what about a command tower on the facade of the structure out there...?
