<b>Calling All Rembrandts! </b>
Troops, we need volunteers for a very important and dangerous mission:
<b><span style='color:green'>Give us a new Readyroom.org logo!</span></b>
MonsE designed the original logo seen above (which Comprox revised to look halfway decent, Bob bless him), but its time has come. Frankly, we can't bear the thought of looking at it one more second. I'm actually getting ill glancing at it as I type this copy... ok, it passed. Whew. *Hiccup*.
Anyhoo, use your imagination, go wild, be creative. We will take submissions for the next two weeks via email (<a href="mailto:webmaster@readyroom.org">webmaster@readyroom.org</a>). We have only a few simple design rules for you to follow:
1. Must be precisely 680 pixels wide, 188 high.
2. Must not exceed 50K in filesize (think jpeg)
3. Must say 'The Readyroom.org' and 'The Natural Choice' in a non-royalty font.
4. Must not contain any non-NS copyrighted materials of any kind.
5. Author must be able to take rejection like a man, and not get all worked up if their image is not accepted. If you are not up to this, do not submit anything.
As we receive entries, we will look them over, and perhaps send the author a few critiques if we think they're almost there. After two weeks, we will narrow down all the entries to the top three. If the Readyroom staff still can't decide which one we like the most, we will post the finalists in the forums for a vote. As for rewards, well, there are none. Any image used will become a copyrighted material of this site. But you will receive design credit on the page (suitable for resume experience), as well as cool points with us for use later.
Now fire up Photoshop and get cracking! Remember - 2 weeks only, and send all submissions to <a href="mailto:webmaster@readyroom.org">webmaster@readyroom.org</a>
As a side note, no submissions will be accepted from any NS team member. Flayra would kill me for distracting you...

Comments
/me predicts Parasite will walk away with this one. I hope, at least. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
And, I guess you want it to fit in the color scheme Monse? Cause that basic layout color can be changed in about 30 seconds if a logo looks better in beige or such.
*kicks Ken under the forum table and feebly tries to outdo parasite*
<!--EDIT|Comprox|April 24 2002,23:13-->
and it doesnt fit in your layout either (well, you never said it had to . . .) you going for a full site recolour or just a logo change, coz if its just a logo change my logo looks even shittier than it doesn otherwise =(
And, I guess you want it to fit in the color scheme Monse?<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I sort left the 'match current color scheme' as an assumed. I don't want to change the current one - it's very distinctive (as well as the only real input I made to the original design - phear my lack of webcoding skeelz!<!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->.
As for file type, as long as it's less than 50K and supported by all browsers (no TIF's or PSD's, you knuckleheads), then I really don't care.

Now... make me drool!
*drool*
...What I really would like to see would be a flash version of rr.org. I've really fallen in love with flash lately. :S
And yes, Flah RR.org would simply be too cool!
<img src="http://tald.readyroom.org/images/readylogo1.jpg" border="0">
(Don't laugh... I don't even have PS and I'm just getting started in 2D editing...)
Any suggestions? The border is kinda blah...
Great job everybody!
However, If I could make one small suggestion? Change the border to the colour currently used on the menu and News title bars, it would make it fit a lot nicer into the current site layout.
And if i'm really picky, a hive in the Readyroom? But then again, thats probably just me trying to find faults out of jealousy. <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

p.s.: The people in the background are not <b>all</b> what they seem. <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->
hehehe
<img src="http://tald.readyroom.org/images/heh.jpg" border="0">
Seems to blend in just fine with the current color set. Just gives the site a different feel. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
Do you think I went a little overboard with the background noise this time around though?
<!--EDIT|ken20banks|April 25 2002,18:15-->
Not one of those even falls near in the category of "better than average" they are all incredible! Im scared to try <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->
I mean, I fancy myself an artist but sheesh! Theres gotta be a way we can make money off this talent pool!
Monsieur I think we need a desktop contest now...oh and how can you possibly pick a winner?!?!
...this definately calls for some more hi-res art for us to play with!
Everyone else: any logo that doesn't get chosen, can I use it for my Zeroping NS news site?
