Res Hack For Marines?

<div class="IPBDescription">anyone know if one exists?</div> I've only been playing ns for about a month,

I was playing in a game where it seemed that the marines had close to infinite res...it was really early in the game the marines built an obs, armory, 2 ips, and 2 or 3 phase gates

all the marines were off taking a hive...so I ran into their spawn, killed their obs and 2 ips...moved on to their cc

this is ALL taking place in the first 5-10 minutes of the game...

by the time their cc dies, in the hive they took, they built a new cc (30 more res) and 2 more IPS (another 44res) a new obs(dont remember how much they cost) and 2 more phase gates (ANOTHER 50 RES...one in their NEW base and one in the last remaining hive)

maybe I'm just being paranoid but all the other aliens seemed to think that they had too many res too

I appreciate any feedback you guys could give...btw I wanna make it clear that I DONT WANT TO KNOW what the "hack" or "exploit" is but only if one EXISTS to anyones knowledge

    There's a hack for both sides that allows that team to get unlimited resources.

    It's called "having an unscrupulous server admin on your team."

    Actually, this seems about right. They may have capped a node in addition to the one in their starting base, and the one in their second one.

    The IP/Obs/Armory/Phase build is pretty popular because it allows a lot of variation afterwards. If you took out their Obs before they got Motion Tracking, then they shouldn't have had a problem of running low on resources.

    That's about right.

    I was playing on the map with the nameless hive. The aliens held every single Res. except Sub-Space hive (the one that's really tall, witha vent at bottom and top). In a siege lasting 45 minutes, I personally destroyed 4 IP's and took out a few GL marines. They kept on GL'ing well until we finally broke the bottom vent. On average, they would spend about 90 res/ min just buying GL's and HA's.

    Eeer take it this was on a 1.04 server otherwise them costs are allmost all too high...

    Assuming they were doing relocation strat and especially on NS_Nothing moving to cargobay (4 res nodes on route!) this would be easily possible, except for the phase gates, from your description of events they built about 4 of them 2 or 3 befor you downed their base and more afterwards.. what on earth were they doing with all these phase gates?

    Obs is 25 res and almost no HP it also allows for disress beacon and stops the marines building phase gates till they have 45 res, as such killing the observatory first is your very best bet when attacking a base. If you're really lucky you'll kill it half way through motion tracking <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    ohh sorry I forgot to say it is 1.04

    it was on nancy and they relocated to port...the only res they had was the one in their spawn (which was killed just after their comm chair went down) then they built the res node in port

    AFTER they had their phases up in port and subspace they built the res outside aux command (between port and mess hall)

    On one 1.04 server the alien team won, and upon the new round ALL aliens had 33 res to start with, I went gorge immediately and it shot up to 100, built a hive within the first minute of the game. (After that it was pretty much exhausted for me anyway)...

    Probably something with the overflow pool not being cleared. I posted a bug thread on it.

    Um. something is probably "wrong" sometimes, but i dont think marines got the resource thing because they dont have invidual resources.. Anyway, heres one wierd thing i have seen maybe 2-3 times.

    I press tab to see are teams balanced or why is there so many marines..

    I see 9 marines
    and i see 7 aliens

    I stated using teamsay "huh? hows that possible?" . And somebody answered.."someone is c***ting. thats why" . The teambalance in readyroom would not allow this anyway.     First off, perhaps the marine comm was bright enough to recycle the things that were about to be destroyed, getting them half resources back. Can't recycle CCs, but everything else is fair game. Makes a big difference, more comms should do it.

    Second, I've run across a bug where when a bunch of people all run into the random team door at once, they all get plopped on one team at the same time, circumventing the one player difference thing. I was in a game where there was a mass camping of the marine door, but they all agreed to leave and rush into the random door on the count of three and let fate decide. Fate decided to put all four of them on aliens.

    Also, it's possible that someone dropped on the alien team to get that 9-7. The game prevents joining the majority side, but does nothing to prevent people from leaving.

    ive seen 3 people in marine and one person strolls into the alien entry point

    and those 3 people got dumped onto marine at the same time :/

    Its a bug in 1.04 where the res from last round is carried on to the next game...

    I just got out of a game on NS_Nothing where the EXACT same thing happened, only worse.

    We started in Cargo hive and were doing our normal "attack marines, keep them from expanding too fast." Our gorge has morphed at the start of the game so he was pulling in a good amount of res from the start. As he could, he'd cap the res nodes around the Cargo hive. When we started to move towards Viaduct (Power silo was already taken), the marines were there with 2 TF, phase gate, 10 turrets in the bottom of the hive (right where the hive is itself), and they had a similiar set up right at the Cargo-Via vent.

    Now, I want to make this clear. I'm not exagerating numbers. when I was dead I'd watch out guys attacking Via and started counting. There were at least 20 turrets at Viaduct hive. That's 380 res! Many of these turrets had multiple turret factories. Power silo was in the exact same state. Phase gate, 2 TF and about 8-10 turrets.

    The marines also stated that they had full upgrades, MT and had gotten HMGs, GLs and HA right before the aliens quit.

    Here's where it gets strange. The marines were able to pull this off with only <b>THREE</b> res towers! <b>THREE!</b> We had capped all the res nodes in the cargo area and everyone was on the look out for any structures the marines might have built. They only has res towers in their base, Power Silo and Great Viaduct. How they could afford the load of equipment, structures and turrets (there were so many turrets on the map that you could notice the lag growing) is beyond me.

    While the marines were willing to brag about all the goodies they had, they never once answered our question of how they paid for it all.     Also, this was a 1.04 server, about 12 people on each team and the game lasted about 8 to 10 minutes. Dont know if it was 04c or 04d cause it didnt say, but in the three rounds I played on that server, the marines were never hurting for res.

    this happens when latejointime time is gone over. if within the amount of time you enter the team you start with 10 if after that time you start with 0.

    I'm so ******* tired right now...physically. Anyway since I'm tired I can't write a lot. All I have to say it taht some things are fishy lately. Right when 1.04d was put up on servers aliens won a majority of the rounds, late games that is, not rushes. Then a few days ago marines have seen to become "frightless" to Fades. Which is not right. Mariens should be scared of fades. How ironic after I just made my long post in another thread about NS finally seemignt o be balanced, but just from playign today, I have noticed, something is fishy about marines. I share a similiar experience to the one Tryon experienced. We were playing on Tanith and the marines had only two resource nodes. Thats right 2. and somehow they were able to get HA, JP, the whole nine yards in under 15 minutes. Thats BS guys. We aliens hade mostly all the other resources capped and were getting slow resources. Yet the marine comm was spamming ammo and health like waves and even gave like 8 more healths than neccessary. I call that BS. Hopefully 1.1 can put some restrictions on *** admins because I want to play NS the way it was supposed to be played. Oh by the way, marines won practically all the rounds I played on today and every round my teamates and I were like "BS" at everything. This despite my post about having even wins/losses on the previous days. This was on the same server. I did have one alien third hive win but most of the alien wins that did happen were mainly just skulk rushes. I think the admin on the server I'm at is playign around with stuff. Sorry about eriting i'm so tired.
