People do use software mode!

<b>Render Mode:</b>
Software = 8003(14.2%)
OpenGL = 40025(71%)
Direct3D = 8312{14.8%)

Who would have guessed so many people still use software mode? Well, back to work while keeping those r_speeds low.

interesting, I feel sorry for the 14% runnin software mode.  I don't know who i feel sorrier for, the ones runnin dvd or the ones runnin software, lol.

mmmmm, i feel sorry for them though (i wonder how many of these are -forced- to run in software mode and how many just havent changed the default or dont know about the benefits)

yeah lots of people run in software mode it seems, a friend of mine has a geforce 2 but he runs in software cuz he thinks the d3d and openGL that come with HL are too slow :/

I use software mode on my laptop because it physically doesn't support anything else, and my friend Matt uses it at 300x400 for reasons unknown. (I think he's an idiot.)

I have a GeForce 3, and I run software mode to keep the radiation levels down. :S

My HL refused to change video mode and hung last time I tried to change to software mode...

I'm pretty sure Gearbox will be writing some auto-detection code so Condition Zero won't pick software by default.  Such a simple thing, but such a big thing!

Mmm, good point Flayra. I bet that would change the demographics.

death to software!  and d3d!  glide and opengl are the only way to go, unless not supported.  opengl 2.0 should be out soon
