<div class="IPBDescription">because we've all seen enough avp and SC</div> Okay, I just made a thread for people to post whatever creative ideas they have floating in their heads that they want to share, heck, perhaps a modeller will even pick one of your ideas out and design it (I might make reference back here if I feel like it after I do the farm set etc). This thread is for ORIGINAL ideas though, so I hope that people will avoid posting things from movies and other video games, just try to be unique, before we end up basing the next sets of models off of teenage mutant ninja turtles...
Ideas if anyone needs inspiration:
Insectile alien models (spiders, ants, bees, beetles, and grasshoppers or whatever)
Jungle Life (somewhat different from farm, like lizards, monkies, etc versus demolition teams turning the jungle into... a space ship? doh)
Robotic alien team... I'm sure something robotic will come to you, tractors and soforth <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Ninja marines
secret agent marines
secret agent ninjas (what? ninjas are cool)
powersuits (there are tons of designs out there, everyone loves powersuits)
I might get the time to take a few of these ideas myself, but I'll see how things go, BE ORIGINAL and CREATIVE people... and learn to model from scratch <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

Comments
It's not exactly original, but the ASWAT skin from Sven-Coop is sweet looking, and its original.
thatd be pretty sweet
Hey what the...?
I'm just saying...I would still like to see SC models...we don;t have any...and a few new AvP things that I have thought of that haven't been done...
I hate it when people say things like 'ok...' <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->
Oh... <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Anyone read The Descent? Maybe make them in the image of the Hadals if basing them off conventional simians seems too generic.
And how about a George W Bush marine?
"because we've all seen enough avp and SC"
Has someone released an SC skin yet?
A gecko relies mostly on it's jaws to attack, they can climb ANYTHING, they can regenerate (I once tore off a gecko's tail by accident, it grew back, sort of), they can leap amazingly far and they are cool, but what kind of Gecko should it be?
The most practical change that could be made was the robot aliens idea, they can be created in the same hit boxes and general shape and still look cool.
Although, I have to encourage anyone who is not happy with what the community is producing to pick up modeling him/herself. Also, If you want originality stick to the defaults, you won't seem them anywhere but in NS.

MS3D is terrible for working from scratch, and I have no means of getting hold of a high-end 3D package. If only there was a way to use GMAX for HL modelling.
But if they have clingy feet then how can you justify leap doing so much damage...Are they gonna like leap at them and suction to their faces then repeatedly pull it off then suction to it again to annoy and damage them? hehe

Ignore the scratchiness. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> Not much editing done.
also,
howabout robo aliens vs the those robot guys from terminator?! omg ROBO HELL!! that would be schaweet!
As for original ideas, I was revisitting some of my old drawings the other day and figured this gun might be interesting to someone. I discussed it with Sheena and she came up with a viable explanation for the length of the clip, since real-world clips of such length have a tendency to jam: inside the clip, the bullets would be on a chain, instead of pushed up by a spring. This allows more room for bullets and prevents most jamming. The magazine, therefor, serves only as protection for the chain, preventing the introduction of dust and dirt and ensuring optimum performance.
You can see the bolt that would function somewhat like an M16's forward assist to dislodge jammed rounds, while the ejector port is on the opposite side. It would also be cocked when a new magazine is slapped in, since the firing mechanism is bulk enough to suit a heavy machinegun, due to the ammo being fed on a chain similar to a minigun's.
The fire selector is visible. A serial number and manufacturer's details are on the little rectangular placque you see on the receiver. Digital status read-out is on the bolt casing, just behind the bolt [the dimensions of it should probably be modified if more than just an ammo-count is to be shown].
The modular grenade-launcher can be replaced with any number of things, including a shotgun, HEAP round launcher, gas grenader, LAM unit, et cetera.
The large compensator on the barrel would denote its current function as a heavy infantry support unit.
You sight down the rails on the top of the bolt casing, through the thing the sticks up in front of it, and down to the forward sight. If the gun's to be used in a sniper role, a special scope can easily be snapped on to the front of the thing you see protruding in front of the bolt casing. Night-sight scopes would, of course, be available.
Yes, I realize the pump rail on the grenade launcher is not long enough for practical use. I drew this a while ago. There's space to lengthen it in the actual model, if anyone decides to build it.
A carbine version would be appropriate for infantry, while this model would be for support and sniper work.
A magazine release latch is absent from the drawing, but can easily be imagined in a position under or near the thumb.
The handle should be a bit heavier, more solid.
*edit* The ironsights look like they were taken off an M16 or the m41a
anyway, a cool reskin of the HA would be cool: making it all silver and curvy and shiny. That would own.
