Wad lacking textures?

Is there another wad...
I was going through the wad for the mapper's release, and noticed that there are no textures of terrain. Is there a seperate wad for outdoor areas, or do we have to use/make our own? This is very important, as I am working on an abandoned-mining colony type map, and I need mars-like dirt for the mine

    *sigh*

Did you read the mapping guidelines?

While I'm sure there's nothing wrong with having some spiffy outdoors stuff out a window or something... there are no terrain textures in the wad because NS is focused on tense/atmospheric indoors enviroments. Don't get me started on this... please.

Badmofo and Merkaba have smallish outdoors areas in their maps, and those seem to be working out just fine, but do not focus the attention of your map to the outdoors.

BTW, I haven't seen you around here before. Welcome to the community! The mapping guidelines should get you set on what, exactly, the ns team is aiming for in the level design.

-Edit- I must have misread that last part of your post. You mention a mine, where I thought you were referring to "mine" as in "my level." As in "I need mars dirt for my level." Heh. Sorry for the confusion if you were already fully aware of all this... :/

Not sure where you can find a nice dirt texture.

Well, NS was not meant for outdoors areas right now, andthus, no real outdoor textures were added to the wad and none will be added until later. I know your map is mines, which is not outside, but since most indoor maps would not use textures like you are asking for, they were not made for the first release. I have seen textures of this type around on other NS screenshots, and hopefully some other mappers can help you out. There is also the wad father and if you use those, mak sure you read the rules on usage and follow them.
Sorry for there being no textures, I hope you can find some you like!

"This is very important, as I am working on an abandoned-mining colony type map, and I need mars-like dirt for the mine "

Most mines are underground...therefore, the dirt would be inside. Bam, problem solved.

I know about that, but my map will basicly be split into three places: the living quarters, processing facilities, and the mine. they will be connected by glass tunnels, but I would like to have the mineral patches be surrounded by crystals and dirt patches, and some views of the destroyed entrance to the mine, which you should be able to see when going through the glass tunnels. Sorry about that, but I saw screenshots and I wondered where they got their textures:(

Here are a few rock/dirt textures. If you wanted to make them better fit your map's theme, it would be pretty easy to color-correct them as needed.
