Forum Avatar Problems

The forum wont let me upload any avatars from my computer. It just gives these file types are not allowed error even though it specificly says you can have .gifs and .jpg as avatars. They are all small under 10k and within the dimension limits but same error all time?

how to fix?

    You are not allowed to upload directly to the forums. You must upload your avatar to another website and then use the link in your Avatar options.

    check in the art forum, there are probably some links to hosting sights
