SOrry to have to leave you all
As it turns out, Gamesnet has decided to ban all aol users, and even though I use Compuserve, my IP is still in that range. So for all of you I know on #naturalselection and #evolutionarily, it was nice meeting you.

Send an email to GamesNET, Ness. Tell them that Compuserve got caught up in the mess, too... I'm sure if it's possible to change it, they'll fix it.

Already did, but i haven't gotten anything back yet and I doubt i shall. Maybe Compuserve is affiliated with AOL in some way.

    I feel your pain :smirk:

Friend of mine had CServe and its interface looked exactly like AOL's, you could also exchange IMs from CS to AOL without using any external programs.. I'd venture to guess AOL probably bought them out and they both are opperating on the same network now.

Yep, just been informed AOL bought Compuserve in 1998.

Now if only the rest of the world would ban AOL, life would be sweet.

I'm sick of hearing things like this. Banning AOL would only make over a million people angry! I have some good friends who use AOL.

And those good friends would hopefully get a decent ISP, due to support from their more IT literate friends, and the script 1337 kiddies wouldn't be able to get on anymore.

    Life would be sweet.

    What about using a proxy?
  • OrcristOrcrist Join Date: 2002-12-18 Member: 11050Members
IIRC IRC servers usually scan for proxy's, in order to protect people who have a poorly set up internet gateway to be abused...

Please forgive my posting frenzy but...

Are you sure? Where'd you hear that?

Because I just asked in #help and I was directed to the command "/who *.aol.com", ehm, well try and see for yourself

I dunno but i remember reading at www.enterthegame.com some 15 year old dork got busted by the FBI for DoS attacks, it is a felony offense.

This punk completely lied to everyone he was "friends" with online saying things like he was 18 years old when he is only 15 and even went to be as pathetic as to send fake pictures of himself to people

"Update 10/17/2003: Due to efforts by both our NETCOM and Board, and specific employees at AOL (who have been very helpful in resolving this situation), we have removed the ban on AOL users. We apologize that it took something as serious as blocking all AOL users from our network to resolve our outstanding issues with AOL, and sincerely hope that any situation in the future will not require similar action."
