Blink And Web

Someone please explain the benefits of blinking. I've tried it and I can only blink to a place lower than where I'm standing and only within about 10 feet of me. What's the point of this? Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Also, how does webbing work w/ gorges? I choose web, then press fire and the gorge makes his ka-ka sounds, but I see no webs. Do I have to hold it for a long time or what? I see other gorges making nice little lines all around the hallways, but I can't seem to recreate that mastery.

If anyone can help, I will give you my mother's credit card number.

Easy, With the Webbing, you shoot the web to point A.
Then shoot more web to point B

You'll notice a line of web go from point A to point B, then from there to point C...D...etc

    If that makes sense.

With the blinking, Its kinda hard to get the hang of, but its really good when you know how to use it [ blink behind a marine and whack him with your claws ]. Try jumping, Then ducking in the air, then blinking...works for me.

First web... its easy use as discribed by a|A, (shoot then shoot another location and the web grows between the two places, there must be a LOS between the 2 anchor points)

However as for how to use it, when you do you it try to shoot 2 points on the floor, if the web is at all raised off the floor its easy to see... (I prefer just in front of a closed door with 2 or 3 turrets on the other side of the door, so the tun up trigger the door and get webbed at the same time, then the turrets finish the job...

Blink... That is harder, when you use it, a line is drawn between you and the target in your crosshairs, the game then tries to move you down this line, as it moves you it checks the edges of you model, it they toucvh any thing your blink is stopped at that location.

So if you want to blink a long way, jump crouch and look slightly up... jumping get you off the floor, crouching makes your fade model smaller for contact calculations, and looking up ensures that you don't bink towards the floor (as the floor is the prime candidate for shortening your blink)..

try to blink towards blank walls, as thinks like pipes, turrets, hives, grated floors, and other objects can trap you.. ( you can blink into them on occasion blank walls are safe) if this happens (you wont be able to blink out) get a gorge to build a movement chamber next to you, you can use it to get out...

    Hope this helps

An additional note about webbing - if you have your flashlight turned on (all aliens and alien structures glow and are semi-transparent), you will not be able to see webs as you place them. This is a bug. They still get placed, and if you turn your flashlight off, leave, and come back, you will be able to see them. But any alien with his flashlight on cannot see webs being placed.

and oddly enough they show up brighter if you turn your "flashlight" on (isn't there a term for this?) and the web's already been placed.

That's not odd... everything alien shows up brighter with the flashlight. (: And if you get Advanced Hive Sight, the marines do too. ^^
