whats up with that?
I´ve read many times now that there is a limit to brush and pointbased entities. I tried find some information about this but couldn´t find anything specific. Where are these limits specified? Is it NS related or HL related? What are these limits? Is it a hard or a soft limit? I know that keeping down entities in general seems to be good for servers. Can anyone enlighten me maybe? I would hate to continue my map just to scrap it at the end because of entitie limits.

The entity limit is a HL limitation, and can't be changed. I think its 300 brush entities, and 1000 point entities. You shouldn't worry about overtaking them, just try and keep your counts as low as possible. Less entities is better, basically (and unfortunately).

<<edit>> Oh, and also, providing you are using Zoners tools and not Hammer's tools (HLxxx.exe instead of Qxxx.exe), light entities DO NOT add to your entity count unless they have a name or use a special effect (e.g. flicker).

ImaTarget: If light entities were kept to 300 texture lighting would be almost impossible to pull off very well. In actual fact lighting would not look as good as it does today.
