I recently installed NS on a (basically) new computer. Unfortunately, I'm getting a horrendous crash that I hadn't seen I my old computer. I'll be playing and seemingly randomly it will quit back to the menu and give me a window (a windows window, not a HL window) saying "NET_SendPacket ERROR: WSAEINTR". My computer then just sort of locks up. I can get up the ctrl-alt-delete window but hl refuses to shut down. Other tasks already running seem to be all right (internet activity, AIM) but I can't do anything with them. I eventually just have to press the reset button. Any clues as to what this is?

from that message I am led to understand that it's a networking error, and just because the error comes up in windows doesn't necessarily mean it isnt' deeply embedded into the hl software. It may also very well be something that windows is doing wrong due to the layered nature of networking software. So the only half-assed advice I can even attempt to give would be updating anything on your system related to networking, get the latest drivers for your nic card as well as any firmware revisions. Make sure that whatever network protocols you installed into windows were properly installed (I used to hate having to properly re-install stuff from the cd so I always told windows to look in it's own directory for the files it needed for network card re-installs). And if that doesn't work I'd send an email over to valve tech support.
and as you can see, this is very generified, so.......yeah.
Loose cable somewhere?
Re-install your tcp/ip stack?
