I'm kinda new to these forums so let me introduce myself. I'm Badmofo (Mohammad Alavi), and have been mapping for UP (uncrossable parallel) for the past 2 years. My works include up_regime and up_harbor. I've been following NS for about a year and as of now...I'm going to start making a map for it.
Now that that's outta the way...i'm sorry for being such a newb, but i need help...i know you guys musta answered these questions a billion time, but i can't find anything in the other threads (maybe cause you recently changed forums)
1. The guidlines tell me to build using the NS hull file...but i cant find nshulls.txt anywhere. Where is it?
2. I can't creat a minimap. It crashes to the console everytime i try. What's up with that? (and I'm assuming you need a minimap before commander mode looks normal, because that looks jacked)
3. Entities don't seem to work. I have func_rotating_doors that i flag to "start open" and they don't...has anyone experienced issues like this?

1 - Don't worry about the null file, someone posted about it a few days ago and that was the response. 2 - Minimap bug 9I think) has been fixed in NSTR2 which will be out out <b>soon</b> <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--> 3 - Never heard of that problem before, anyone else?
1. The hulls.txt file hasn't been released yet, but will be with the new NSTR build coming very soon. Don't worry about this yet, it shouldn't impact your mapping at all, it's only necessary to make collisions work properly for the different size aliens when playing.
2. Yep, creating a minimap crashed in the NSTR. This was a result of the upgrade to HL 1108 and me not testing enough. That's fixed in the new NSTR, but this shouldn't hold you back at all.
3. Not sure about those trigger issues. Maybe func_rotating's didn't work properly in the NSTR, but they seem to now. ns_bast has a few that work great and I've never heard of this before.
