Major damage?
How do you make the leap attack do a lot of damage? I have heard that it can do more than a bite, but have never been able to do that.
Leap turns you into a "blazing ball of skulk". Think of enemies in those old 2d platform games, which hurt you when you touch them even if they're not "attacking". While leaping and in the air you do damage to everythng you touch.
Although, leaping isn't really best when used to do damage. It's best used to close the distance faster. I don't think it's possible to make leap do more damage than bite in the same space of time, and leap is way more expensive energy-wise.
I actually saw my first leap kill last night. Needless to say, it got a few "LOL"s from the peanut gallery. I tried using leap as an attack my first few games then I gave up. Now I just use it to get from vents to the ceiling or leap across marine bases to incite a little fear amongst the humans.
But I'm certainly interested to see what you people find with regards to attack strategies with leap. Let me know.
Panzer! I told you about this the other day didn't i? You just have to stick to whatever you leap at and it works like the onos Charge. Damage stops when you hit the ground.

I use leap liberally, as biting takes hardly any energy. It's good to keep the marines confused and add extra damage.
Leaping to close the gap on a marine far down a corridor, (using the SuperSkulk jump+leap combo), and tagging him for just enough leap-damage before getting a "1 bite kill" is just too satisfying!
u have to spin around in mid leap so that you're sticking to him for the whole duration of the leap, while not just hitting him head on and him bouncing away from the rest of your leap..

Leap could theoretically be used to the adventage of the marines if they were smart. Here's what you do: right after the alians get the second hive up, just say something like "o no, now the skulks have leap!" and make vague allusions to the fact that it is an |_|63|2 attack fo |)00(\/), then all the noobies who have heard of how leap is supposed to be good, but don't know how to do anything with it, will be useing up all their stamina on leaps, and even if they do hit you, the most they're not gonna dael anywhere near enough damage to kill you. then you can just kill them all. THE END!

its not. all it requires is clever positioning... same requirement for killing a 100/290 heavy armor marine.....

In that case, I'm probably better off practising my Uber-Skulk Pirouette of Doom. I'm probably more likely to get a kill from that than I would from Leap, if Leap is dependant on a low ping.
I'll be very lucky if I can get a latency less than 150 on any server. It's usually closer to 250+.

I tried this in lan, I'd turn on cheat mode, throw webs in front of the ip, go skulk, wait for a bot to respawn, and leap right at his chest and stick there. At best, I think I did 60 damage and never got a kill with one leap alone, it always took two. Leaping onto a marine's head and standing on it had the same effect. I tried leaping from far away, leaping from close up, etc. Pretty much the same result so I'm wondering what you guys are doing to pull it off.

Pffft...

Uh, no it's not. If you're trying to attack a single marine, approaching him from the front, it's a godsend. It lets you close the distance to him very very fast, making it far harder for him to kill you before you reach him.
Against a single marine best bet (And I hope you have instant weapon switching on and some very close weapon binds) is Leap to the marine then switch to bite. usually even one bite will finish him off.
Against a group of marines, leap is where it's at. If you leap THROUGH the group of marines, you've done damage to eveyr one of them you've touched. Even better, if the marines are close enough together to stop your leap, you'll do WADS of damage to them when you're leap slams into them as you're touching them for a longer period of time.

You're more likely to close so you can take him out by leaping past him.
In reference to taking down a single marine, who is currently at the opposite end of a long corridor, I can see many uses for Leap. I've found through experience that merely running down the floor of the corridor, strafing wildly, only seems to work against the most inexperienced marines.
What I usually do, is run diagonally up the walls, across the roof, down the walls, up again, then onto him to bite. Unfortunately this isn't easily done in some corridors due to the various bumps, pipes, vents and such. But, I can imagine that a skulk who leaps to one wall, then to the opposite, then to the roof, is going to be extremely hard to hit.
Leaping straight at the marine is likely to result in a burst of fatal bullets in the face, even if trying to leap behind the marine, but if you're bouncing off the walls like a 3-dimensional bunnyhopper, like I can imagine Skulks doing for real, then the poor 2-dimensionally-inclined marine will have a hard time *gasp* moving his mouse cursor diagonally!
My new favorit toy. You bounce around the squad like a rubberball on speed all the while snapping your teeth
As said before leap doesn't do much damage but its great for closing the distance. Its allmost as fast as blink and easier to use. Distance is the marines greatest friend so we need to rip it to shreds as fast as possible
I'd imagine Leap would be a good ability to use if friendly fire was off, as you could make a squad of Marines end up shooting each other as you run circles around them, and right through the middle of them *chuckle*
I only use Leap as a utility attack, for getting really fast around the map, getting to vents and attaching to the roof, it is then useful for the leap-bite combo or for running away. Nice if there's a high and dark ceiling... Note that Leap is just an acceleration in whatever direction you're facing, so you can fly around corners and stuff... * - - - - - - - - -
The best use of leap is really to close the gap between you and that pesky marine with lmg. Leap onto the left wall, onto the right wall, back to the left wall, and keep doing that until you're close enough to deliver a satisfying "CHOMP!"
Best used with celerity, and makes you extremely hard to hit.
depends how aware the marine is of your presence. If he's looking at you at the end of the hall with his LMG lined up: forget it, I'll just drop a parasite and go find a nice overhang to wait for him to come by and drop down on. If I absolutely have to approach a marine aware of me down a hallway I greatly prefer Leap simply because It takes less time to get to the target. The more you move around not-forward keep in mind (running up the walls, celing, ect) the longer he has to shoot at you. When you consideer it only takes half a clip of pistol to kill a skulk, your odds, even when strafing around, are low.
If on the other hand he's not immediately aware of my presence then leap is the answer! By the time he reacts to my leap screach of doom I'll be in his face with a mouthfull of teeth, whereas if I had tried to walk He'd have caught onto the footsteps far earlier.
