All Seeing Eye

Is there any way to make the All Seeing Eye start up NS in 32bpp? I know you put -32bpp in the Target line on the icon, but I launch games from ASE, and I don't see any way to put in any kind of commands like -32bpp or -console (tho ASE starts up with the console active... hmm).

    Options>Games>Half-Life. What .exe is it launching? It should be C:\Sierra\Half-Life\hl.exe. Just put -32bpp at the end of that shortcut.

    Right-click on the NS mod icon in the Halflife folder in the server listing. Click "Custom config...". In the "Command Line" box, put something like:
    C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\hl.exe -game ns -noipx -32bpp -nointro -console

    and that'll do it <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I just use HLSW and make my days easy :-) Either that or I just don't care <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Does 32-bit mode even have any effect for HL? I thought all of the textures and whatnot were made in 16-bit. If it'd look visibly nicer in 32, though, I'll be sure to change my settings.

    The only real difference is in transparencies, especially in particles. Transparencies look ugly, with lots of banding, in 16-bit color, while they look smooth in 32-bit color. However, it also requires roughly double the memory, since HL doesn't have very good texture compression.

    As well as blending and some of the weirder moire patterns are eliminated in 32-bit mode. Though the few that remain are very pretty, and distracting. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> If only Anisotropic worked properly on my video card, at the same time as trilinear filtering.
