Marines Movement Rates Slowed By Ammo

I came across this by reading Humbaba's shotgun guide. An excellent read in and of itself, he also mentions not carrying a full load of 50 shells, as it will slow you down somewhat. Well, I tried it out on a LAN game, and it's true. The more weapons you carrry, and the more ammo you carry for each weapon, the slow you move. Even the difference between carrying an LMG with the default 50 in the gun, and 50 in reserve, and maxed out 250 in reserve is noticeable if you look for it.
I remembered reading about this in the forums while waiting for NS to release (Yeah, I've been here for a little while, despite the few posts...), but had forgotten about it. I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed this, and if so how much of a difference it makes?

mostly because I have a hard time getting ammo from the commander.
Of course, if the effect is so minimal, is it really needed? But then again, if the effect is so minimal, why worry about removing it? <shrug>

noone runs around with pistol, so I do.
