<div class="IPBDescription">:p</div> i mostly play as an alien gorge, but sometimes i want to try being a commander

But because i don't know what i'm doing, i allways get ejected

You people need to become more newbie friendly, trying it out is the only way we learn <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

And it's all in good fun, so what if we lose? we had fun diden't we? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

look noone wants a n00b as a commander.

The easiest way to learn how to be a commander is to watch everyone else being a commander then when you happen to play a game with noone willing to be a commander i.e. they spend 5 minutes fighting over who should it be then you step in and show em what you're made of.

    1) Go to Frontiersman Strategy Forum.
    2) Find Commander strategies
    3) If 2 not possible, ask for strategies.* Othewise go to 5
    4) Watch as deluge of advice comes in
    5) Proceed to Comm competently

*You may also want to consider a stronger prescription on your glasses.

    Some people don't like losing.

Silly thread, but I feel I should say there are some of us out there who don't care whether we win or lose nor who the commander is.

[Edit]Rather the experience the commander has under his belt.

    I can't command because I can't multitask BUT

1.) Hang around on these forums they are insanely useful.
2.) Watch what other people do. You learn better through watching than doing
3.) Don't listen to you marines/alien insults but do listen to important stuff. Like hive blah is under attack etc
4.) Play the game to have fun, after all it is a GAME!

I want the ability of having 2 commanders.
There are 2-4 gorges, why is the commander limit at 1 when you can build more command consoles?
the second cc could be kind of overwiew and possible support chair for everyone.

Been discussed many, many times why you can't have a second Comm, Ollj. ONE Commander is already a large advantage. Granting that Comm with the ability to be doing two things at once (building, supervising a group of Marines, scanning for xenos, searching for resources, etc) would make it even moreso.

More to the point, I believe that they're already getting Spectator Mode working for Commanders. So to get a better idea, you can just Spec a comm, and watch what he's doing all the time. Or if you're lucky, you live near a good Comm with a TV-Out video card who you can go watch, or have them record a game onto videotape so you can review it later.

Hmmm... that'd actually be pretty cool. Kinda like the old 'How to Win at Nintendo' video game tape things. Just tape a game, go back, and voiceover it to explain what's going on at any given point. Well... at least until the Training Levels are done and included, to give people a chance to get used to the CC.

Best advice... listen to the prior posts. Then create your own LAN game, turn on sv_cheats so you can build stuff without a game being active, and become familiar with the menus. If you can't do one up yourself, look up some of the available Commander Mode Keybinds, and make them second nature.

Oh... and drink coffee. LOTS of coffee.

The Forum Search Function is your friend Ollj, this has been discussed and repeatedly rejected for many good reasons...

Binding a key to teamsay "No, you can't have HA/HMG" might be usefull as well <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Testing is not the only way to learn, in this case it's actually teh slowest way.

    1. Read up on strats and tips for COM's.

    2. Get to know the interface on a LAN server (just create one).

    3. Practise with bots.

If you do this they will never know you are a n00b COM <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
