Something I Think Should Be Changed Or Added

<div class="IPBDescription">Not a bug, not an exploit...</div> You know what I hate? I am commander and all I hear from that lady is:

Your base is under attack
Your base is under attack
Your base is under attack
Your base is under attack
Your base is under attack
Your base is under attack
Your base is under attack

It has got to be the most annoying thing in the game. That one sound alone is more annoying than the announcer in Wave Race 64.

I just want to scream at her "WHAT BASE?!?!?!" I have to go to every resource node, both of my bases, and anywhere I have towers to see what she is yelling about.

Here is what I propose. Whenever "Your base is under attack" is played, something on mini-map pings to show you where. or....

Change it so if core buildings are under attack she tells you.
"Your infantry portals are under attack"
"Resource tower, taking damage"

or something like that. When I am taking care of my marines, upgrading, building, capping nodes and playing commander...hearing that my base is under attack pisses me off more than it helps me. I wish I could know where...

    that same lady will tell you "Press your jump key to go to an alert"

    this should take care of your problem. The next time that B**** complains that your base is under attack just hit your jump button and your screen will focus on the problem. This also works when you hear "soldier needs health", "soldier needs order", "soldier needs ammo" etc.

    Ya know whats funny in a odd way? I see ppl on the Alien team from time to time asking "what hive is under attack?" when it is plain as day in the upper right of thier screen! Marines I can understand not knowing but Khaara? wtf? Either they must brand spanking new, extremely stupid or have thier r_drawmodel turned off.

    The alien in question might also be in the process of evolving. You can't see any of your HUD while evolving. Technically you could spin around until it said it on your hive sight but not everyone knows this and sometimes it doesn't work. whoops off-topic <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    yeah i know about the jump key. Problem is, I have a bunny hopping script bound to that key...I guess i'll have to do what I do when I am lerk or a get a jetback. Change mouse2 to +jump.../sigh

    Can someone tell me the console commands for page up and page down? I cant figure them out

    Well, you could, but it wouldn't work with mouse2, its used for issuing waypoints and such.

    it needs to be a keyboard button (or perhaps something like mouse3).

    I believe the console commands are pgup and pgdown

    All mouse buttons are unbound when you step into the comm chair, thats why if you have your voice comm bound to 'mouse4' and you jump into the chair, nobody can hear you scream, i found out the hard way.

    These don't ALWAYS work some times i'm waiting for a need order from someone so i can find them i know for a fact they sent the message but the lady dose't tell me. What gives?

    Problem is, if more then one place is under attack, and you already know about the first place, you'll think she's talking about that place every time.     Regardless, your script is going to be worthless as soon as 1.1 comes out. I'd suggest binding SPACE to jump, and getting used to it.

    i like the idea of having a minimap indicator, where it either flashes red or has a circle around where a building is under attack, soldier needs hp, etc like in other rts. Sometimes the spacebar takes u to only one location if multiple locations are under attacked, soldiers scattered around the map are asking for stuff. Spacebar doesn't help much in those situations.

    Personally, I'd like some more verbose warnings from the computer lady. "Resourse tower is under attack." "Phase gate is under attack." "Sentry turret is under attack." et cetera, et cetera. It would let you prioritize a little.

    I wrote that MYSELF, if you cant figure it out thats your bad...so yes Bhopping is a skill because not everyone can do it. But thats off topic...start a different thread if you wanna argue with me about bunny hopping, and i'll crush you.

    anyhoo, thank you for the idea of binding mouse3 to the jump button. I already have space bound to +voicerecord, so i'll try binding mouse3 to +jump. And i'll try pgup and pgdown...
