<div class="IPBDescription">wth is wrong with these sounds</div> i just bought myself creative audigy2 platinum, which is awesome....but when i play NS, the Light machine gun and Heavy machine gun sounds r all scratchy and distorted
i have sonic foundry sound forge 6.0 and have made the sound files to my liking, but everytime i try to join a server it tells me the server is enforcing file consistency on those files
ive sent those files to my friend and he as well said they were scratchy and distorted
im really confused, its hard to play

in game: when i shoot the LMG or HMG everything else silences and it plays the distorted sound, then goes back to regular game sounds
i dont noe what to do

Have you made sure to enable EAX sound in NS' config? To disable A3D? IF so, it smells like driver issues. You have updated the drivers for your sound card? Your motherboard? Your dog? I've got the Audigy 1 and it sounds fine on Windows XP with latest drivers for my card and my motherboard.

I dont understand what you mean... The files you modified became scratchy? Or the original files were scratchy? If you modified them and that made them scratchy, then just use the regular ones. If you cleared this up we might beable to help you further.

File Consistency stops people modifying files so they dont have an unfair advantage.

If its the original files that are scratchy, have you tried getting other versions?

that's funny, I have my channels pumped and I have it on A3D with EAX off...I know if you have both on, really weird stuff happens...

check your sound cards play back settings, you could have some problems with your system settings...

Check your volume control too. If your volume slider for your soundcard is maxed and you have selfpowered speakers it could be "overdriving" the speakers. Try sliding your computer's master volume control down to half and then turning up the volume on your speakers to compensate.

Or the wavs have simply been corrupted and contain garbage or an incorrect bitrate flag or something. Reinstall or copy from someone else.

It could also be your computer compensating somehow, allocating memory bandwidth towards game performance rather than sound. I know that's the case with mine; it'll make farting noises sometimes when there are a lot of other people on the screen.
