I'm Confused On The Mood Of Ns

<div class="IPBDescription">What exactly is the "mood"?</div> I've been posting here and there and seeing alot of post talking on the "mood" of NS, like how this wouldn't fit with that "mood" or how this would kill that "mood".

But what exactly is the "mood"?

I was first thinking that the mood was going to be suspenseful, kind of scary at times, making you jump out your seat as you hear skulk biting you and such in a dark place. I found the silence skill good for this, and that was why marines should stick together. When I first played it was like this in 1.0, till commanders learned about motion tracking, and until fades were made better.(And till I learned everyone ups their gamma)

Now I'm thinking a full scale warfare battleground with fades shooting acid and heavy troops laying down cover fire as a grenadier tries to blow up the lerk. But full scale warfare in a space ship? Kind of cramped atmosphere don't ya think?

Then at a time I was thinking futuristic warfare....but without the futuristic weapons...errr...

So what is this Natural Selection "mood" I've been hearing about, how can I identify it?

Just think of the "Aliens" attitude.. and you have the attitude of NS.

I think the overall mood could maybe be described as "serious." That's not to say you can't have fun playing the game, but the game isn't like TFC or some other mod where crazy gimmick maps fit right in. All of the maps and models in NS are realistic-looking (as compared to the TFC ones. Even the new ones are cartoonish), and have an air of impending doom in them. The game has its tense moments, and its all-out-warfare moments, but I'd say that for both sides there's a definite seriousness to the play.

Hmmm...that seems about correct, a "serious" mood. I'll think on that...
