New Regen

<div class="IPBDescription">carapace still best?</div> The new regen works twice as fast according to the changelog. I tried it out, and it's a lot better than before, but I couldn't see any difference between a level 1 regen and level 3. Does anyone have some numbers for this? I didn't like being killed after 2 seconds of lmg fire as lerk or gorge, but if you only take 1 bullet it's nice to be able to get back to full h/a.

    its a tradeoff

    if you are exceptional at dodging, regen is much better, in a drawn out battle, as a skulk, i probably doubled or more my lifetime with it, however, if you dont know how to dodge, carapace still owns :-)

    I like it how it is, and hope it doesn't get nerfed..

    I dont see why people like carpace better. Especialy for skulk. If you're trying to kill a base, carpace will make your lifespan a tiny bit longer, but with regen, you can attack, retreat and attack again. Also useful when attacking a few marines.

    its hard to retreat from turrets and 2+ marines that can aim better than a 2 yearold though.

    Yes, using different upgrades means a different change in tactics, carapaced fades shouldn't be as cowardly as regen fades(rushing lmg marines owns regen fades); But base attack regen fades will probably never die, as for carapace fades, they'll be headed back to the d chamber over time.

    So IMO, different upgades require different tactics, some brute force, some hit and retreat, whatever floats your boat.

    Personally I like to take redemption when I'm a gorge...but at that you could have enough resource for a hive on the line or more. You cannot take the chance of losing all that time and "money" in a game, especially a scrim or match...therefore if you can get warped back to the base and healed up, it's worth the running time back. Redemption level 3 is pretty kickass now also.

    I don't *usually* do hit & run tactics...I'm the guy who goes balls-out to charge whatever is in my way, usually dying in the process so that extra second or 2 that carapace allows me to survive is key. Regen would not provide that same advantage and is more for a goo-rilla <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> style of play.

    They do each have their key advantages though. No matter what I would prefer Defense Chambers over Sensory or Movement as a first though...2nd is debatable.

    Maybe because without carapace you die in 9lmg shots, and with carapace you die in 19. Also the fact that regen is horribly slow and its faster to die and return to the marine spawn.. if thats what you plan on hitting.

    I prefer carapace much more than regen. As a skulk regen is pretty much useless in my opinion you will die in 1 second to the average marine, your regeneration will just never come into play.
    I almost always take cara for fade aswell but if there are no dc nearby where im attacking it sometimes makes me go regen IF marines dont have high upgrades.

    I usually go with Carapace for anything, except gorge and lerk. SOMETIMES if i feel like screwing around ill try regen with fade but I hate how fast you get mowed down without carapace. With gorge I use redemption, and with Lerk i use regen. If we ever actually GET to Onos, I usually choose regen, cuz they get like 50hp a tick with that...So you can mow down like 10 marines and be back to full health in a few seconds

    I can't live without my regen. Because I hardly ever stick close to gorges or placs where we might have DCs, so I need to be self-sufficient.

    I can't wait to lerk with the new regen, 6 per tick. =D! Aww...The lerk is so awesome to play with. Especially that spike is now 18 =D.

    Regeneration is still unused in experienced games where players can aim. Carapace allows you to attend battle much longer. Regen simply gets you killed when you run away to heal.

    In reality the healing should be (as compared to 1.03) *4 on pro games, *2 on newbies games. You can't have both. Newbies with *4 could potentially never died if the marines were not skilled enough.
