Can you maybe remove the F4 key function. I cannot play a decent game lately. A big percentage of games I am playing are ending prematurely because a bunch of ***** slam F4 just as they hear "your hive is under attack". Omg please feel for me I want to cry.
i go down fighting it's just fun losing as winning but winning gives you some thing to brag about
Well at times it does get a bit much, i mean ive been in situation where we have worked hard then we start to loose a little and everybody panics and there ahh next game will get them..then they f4 again. ohh well just find ppl that dont do that so much, but good luck on that. now if one of the teams is doing lame things like stacking teams and what not then by all means f4 and get out of it. as with everything in this game i guess deal till things are done about them.
Well ok heres the thing. Sometimes a game ends because someone has to leave for a reasonable purpose, like having to go to school ext.. Who's gonna check the teams when their leaving the game not knowing that doing so may effect the entire round.
The way I see it, if someones gonna F4 a round then they might as well leave the server. Sometimes the team with the advantage will still lose because of a couple f4 peoples. There is no reason to F4 besides wanting to exit the game even so a lot of people just press esc on the keyboard to exit.
Oh and how is this being selfish. The purpose of the readyroom is to "get ready" hence the name "readyroom" getting ready for the game. It is not meant to end a round. If you press F4 and realize you just made your team lose due to the lack of players on your team, then that person is selfish because he can't handle a little time and is extremely impatient, unlike me.
You might as-well get rid of the third hive capabilities since nowadays its hard to feel successful about a round when people avoid being humiliated from a babbler kill so they F4 right when they hear the first Spore cloud from the lerk.
There is no satisfaction in winning the round when it ends prematurely.

The saddest thing of all is that it's actually possible for marines to win against 3 hive aliens or for 1 hive aliens to defeat HMG/HA marines.
It's tough and it's not common, but I've seen it done on several occasions. I've even seen marines win without a command chair a number of times. The satisfaction you get from winning a game like that is immense.
I've seen an entire team go F4, simply because my team (Kharaa) had 2 fades attacking an outpost. I've seen people complain "OMG OMG OMG WE GONNA LOSE! LET'S F4 RIGHT NOW" - I usually reply "If we die, we die fighting."
Just mark them cowards and try not to play with them next round.
and i've also seen a team of marines that outlasted 4 different assaults on main base (generator) while also defending power silo, Cargo bay and attacking viaduct. 1 1/2 hour battle but it was fun, and only one person F4'ed I think, maybe two.
Just yesterday I was playing a game in Bast as alien. We spawned at feedwater and took the RTs at atmospheric processing. I became a gorge at this point to drop 3 defense chambers and a few OCs to cover that highly valuable spot after permission from my team while the other gorge went to get more RTs. They said that the marines were taking Refinery and then people started leaving until the game ended. We were getting our third RT up at this point... so very early in the game. We had atmospheric too. I was positive about the situation. What is wrong with people? They like died twice in the fight to hold Refinery before the marines bunkered down there and then went to the readyroom. (most didn't exit game)

ppl could be stupid with it, but most of the time they are decent situations, like if the commander is the only one left against 3 hives, or 1 guy is hiding in the shadows somewhere for 20 mins. i have never actually seen any bad usage of it.

Anyway the most dramatic game I ever played on NS was on Hera. During that round, the aliens got third hive(three times) and marines still won. It was amazing. I still remember this one marine player typing quickly waisting time "OMG F4, OMG F4 marines, F$" it was typed exactly like that even with the money symbol because he was typing so fast.
He pressed F4 and waited in the readyroom for about half an hour while we fought our butts off and managed to pull off a hive weld kill and take back the game and win. When the round eneded we returned to the readyroom as usual and before we could say somethign to him he logged off. He musta felt stupid at this point.
Sometimes it is possible to win in 0-hive situation against HA/HMG. I was playing kharaa in ns_eclipse and I was a skulk in the early game. Then in mid game I went gorge and started making defence to our hive (computer core) while someone else was gorge at maintenance hive. Marines had recently lost maint and soon they took it back when hive was already building. They had few HA/HMGs. Then they moved to the comp core and destroyed it completely, I was lucky to have been in eclipse hive where I had built RT and 2 offence chambers and 2 defence chambers. So marines killed our lasts hive and countdown started. I was soon the last kharaa alive, and I managed to get eclipse hive up. Then I ran to comp core just to notive that it was empty. I could hear HMG somewhere near the south loop, but I ignored it and built a hive at comp core too. Few minutes of waiting and making defence and then eclipse hive was complete and other kharaa started to spawn. Comp core soon completed too, and we got fades. As fades suprised marines and marines realised that we had two hives I was already at maintenance and built hive and defences there... We actually won the game from 0-hive situation because marines were destroying our RTs and defences far from our hives when countdown was on. Commander didn't use any resource because he thought they had won. But he was wrong.
So if you had patience to read this and even understood it (english is my second language) I am pleased.
I also agree that is extremely stupid for people to f4. Hell...going down fighting as a marine is even fun sometimes to see how long you can last. Some of the best games I've ever played have been situations where the marines had held up somewhere thats unreachable by fades and onos. ex. ns_nothing red room. Most people would give up and f4 out of these situations. Most people see a long boring stalemate but I see a challenge.

If you are going to go down, why not go down fighting! TILL THE LAST MAN, CHARGE!
....and selfish
