What gives?
I played in a game last night where aliens build Ds and OC right outside the marine spawn (the map with sat com, cant belive I forgot the name) So we siged inside and I was crouched by the exit tunnel, I could clearly see half of the OC (not sticking out far enough to draw its fire) but the sige refused to aim, it only began aiming when I moved all the way out and the OC began to shoot. Seems strange to me. Anyone else run itno any problems

It appears there is a problem with sieges and obs. If an ob is near a siege it gets very flakey.

known bug mentioned in other tread here, too.

An observatory kinda blocks the sight to a siege aim.
    Werid but true.

ok, but that doesnt explain why the sige began to work when I completley moved into view of the OC. Ill take your word for it and wait for a dev to comment

I guess that, for the game, you only see it when you see the centre of the structure. If you see only a small part of it, it won't shoot you either. So that means the OC couldn't see you, even though part of you should have been visible.

In order for a siege to fire on a target, the marine must be able to see the BASE of the chamber. A partial view will NOT work. Note that for a hive, you need to see the midpoint of the hive.

There is indeed an observatory bug as well, but it does not apply in this case (obviously, as the siege started to fire once the base of the chamber was spotted - the observatory bug makes the siege ignore any chambers within the observatory range).

thanx fire, I figured it was a model thing. Thanks again.

And I know its seige but my fingers work faster than my brain sometimes. (or the other way around, I cant figure it out, I leave the W out of spawn alot too, so it comes out span)

I think the siege only fires when you see the tower, and if in range, it will fire at you.

That means if you see a part of it, it doesn't attack you, and the siege won't fire. However when you step out close to it so that the tower attacks you, the siege will pick it up and fire...

At least that's what I think

You might want to study a bit more before correcting any more spelling.

    Let's all say it together:

"I before E except after C, or when sounding like A, as in neighbor and weigh"
