Unable To Play Half-life, Or Natural Selection

I've just recently upgraded to Windows 2000 Professional, and it's not allowing Half-Life to run. The menus are okay, but the moment the game actually tries to start, I get this error:

Never had this happen before. I have uninstalled and re-installed Half-Life, and still get the problem.
I am running:
AMD XP 2200+
GeForce 4 Ti4200 (Latest Detonator XP/2000 Drivers)
MSI KT3 Ultra2 333 Motherboard - VIA Hyperion Chipset (Latest)
