This has been mentioned earlier, but i have to say it again. When you are a com, please place turrets factories next to wall or in a corner, not in the middle of the room! I hate that when com puts TF in the middle and then one turret on each side. Then there comes skulk, destroy's one turret and then TF. If turret factory would be against the wall then you have to protect only one side of it and you can put those 3-4 turrets in front of TF.

Anyone with a IQ higher then 15 knows that the best way to avoid thowing recources at useless towers is to build it in a corner. But I still see it happend :/

that would be good, but against alot of walls, there will be a tiny gap between the wall and the tf, giveing the a perfect spot to hide and munch away

Really depends.... some times i can fit fine behind it.... other times... i cant..... it goes both ways... and yes... i must say i love and hate when commanders put them in corners..... from an alien point of view

It depends on the direction the wall is facing. I'm pretty sure all buildings "point" the same way when you place them. It is usually different than the "ghost" image you get while placing it. If the TF is at an angle to the wall you have to be very, very careful where you put the turret that covers it. Skulks can move into the TF model.

Personally i like putting the TF in the middle so I can make a rectangle of turrets around it. That way there are always 3 turrets firing on the skulk thats trying to bite a turret. 2 Skulks can easily take down a turret that doesn't have support from other turrets (or 1 with a quick heal). And just so someone doesn't flame me by saying "OMG! I R |_337 5|<u1x0|2. 3y3 74|<3 4|_|_ 7u|2|237$ |3y m3h 53|_f. Turrets are only to delay the enemy until marines get there.

GUIDE: PLACING A TURRET FACTORY WITHOUT SPACES IN CORNERS

The old good subject of the TF and Ts

NO, the best way is to put the TF IN the corner

The Problem with placing a TF in the middle and Turrets in triangle, quad or whatever-around-the-TF-Formation is this:

o I m a carapaced Skulk. I am alone.
o I go chew on one turret circling it like mad.
o Lets say I die.
o So what? I respawn and go again. Turret is destroyed.
o Now I have opened a blind spot to the TF and start chewing it.
o TF is destroyed. I eat the rest of the off-line Turrets.
o If there are, lets say, 5 Turrets, well then I go Lerk and try to weaken/destoy some before I start chewing.

Thats the real problem. If Marines dont defend good, your lonely turret-foe is weak, doesnt track you fast and is dumb, firing even if it cant hit you.

On the other Hand, if you place the Turret Factory like this you have only 1 angle to defend:

o Click the TF Icon. You get a TF-Mouse Pointer right?
o Move your TF-Mouse in a corner (I mean IN the corner) so your TF-Mouse is RED (undeployable).
Your TF should be half or more OUTSIDE of the wall(!)
o Move your TF-Mouse horizontal and vertical (x-Axis,y-Axis) so you start getting
a GREEN TF-Mouse (deployable). Your TF should be [u]even now[u] at about 40% OUTSIDE the wall.
o Now comes the slow moving part:
While still green, move your TF-Mouse only vertical (y axis) till it becomes RED again.
Move it a tiny bit so it goes GREEN.
o Do the same but now with the horizontal axis (x axis).
o Recheck that you have the LIMIT between RED and GREEN placement:
LIMIT is the GREEN TF so that if:
- you move a tiny bit vertical, your TF should go RED.
- you move a tiny bit horizontal, your TF should go RED.
o Place the GREEN LIMIT TF.

Now you should have a TF thats about 50% on passable terrain and 50% IN the WALL and outside of it.
You re done. You have a TF that needs only one side to be defended!
Just be sure, that you do the above and no skulk should be able to get "inside" the TF.

Have a nice Turret placement!

Placing a TF in the middle of the room = newbie comm mistake

Placing a TF in the corner of the room = viable tactic!

placing a TF on top of a res tower out of the reach of a skulks chomping teeth = tactic for the commanding elite!

Seriously though... Trying to take down a TF thats on top of a res tower as a skulk is virtually impossible!! You simply cannot get into a good position to take 1 bite out of it. Although its vulnerable to lerk spikes it will take an age to destroy the TF during which time a marine can kill the lerk or chase it off and then weld the TF back to full health!! I use this tactic a lot and it works great. It works even better when u place a turret on top of the TF thats on top of the res tower!!

Its possible to build towers of marine structures in the same way as aliens can!! I was once messing around and built a tower of 9 command chairs before i hit the ceiling!
